1/4 3/8 1/2 is a good starting point for 3 weights that cover a lot if not most situations.

green pumpkin, black and blue, some sort of brown/orange.

color combinations are endless and you will get 20 different answers from 20 different people but those 3 are pretty much the base of almost everything.

my 3 favorite color skirts are Blue craw, watermelon/greenpumpkin/red, black/blue/purple flake.

If you go the North Star route, grab some Black Series Footballs in Brown Craw, Insanity and Black N Blue. Basically browns, greens and black/blues

I only use 1/2oz for all situations. If I need to go the finesse route, I usually go with plastics instead of jigs.

I like to start off with a 3/8 jig.  If I don't get any hits on that I go down to a 1/8 ounce size.  If the small size doesn't work I go up to a 1/2 ounce.  Sometimes the fish want small sizes and sometimes they want a bigger bait.  I stick with black/blue, watermelon, orange/brown, and black colors.

I use North Star jigs. 5/16oz swim jigs, 3/8oz flip and swim jigs and 3/8oz Black Series jigs.

Colors keep it simple, black and blues, green pumpkins and some brown and orange color jigs and trailers to start with.

Pretty solid advice.

Arkie Heads?  I think I carry enough of every size available, though mostly I throw 3/8.  If I have decided that I am going to fish spinning gear that day, I'll mostly throw 1/4 on braid with fluorocarbon leader.

Football heads? - a different story -  If I am fishing a football head, I am fishing 15 to 30 feet or so down, primary amongst rocks/sand/mud bottom - maybe some small stumps here and there.   I don't think that I own any football heads that weigh less than 1/2 ounce and the vast majority of them weigh 3/4.

I don't fish these conditions very often, but this is what I carry when I do.

I mostly throw 3/8 and 1/4. I have a couple 1/2oz. The colors mentioned above would be a good start.

So true.  This covers pretty much 99% of applications.
