Mud River Matt Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 So i done a search but didn't really find what I was looking for. I have committed to jig fishing recently and was wondering what everyone uses. I have been using bitsy bugs or strike king, in a 1/8 or 3/16 oz size. So i was wondering what you guys use as far as brand, type, weight and anything else you may want to add. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted July 23, 2013 Super User Posted July 23, 2013 I'm a huge fan of Siebert Outdoors (board sponsor) football and brush jigs. 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 oz are the weights I use the majority of the time. Northstar Custom Baits (another board sponsor) makes a very fine quality jig as well. 2 Quote
kadas Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 You can look a long time but in my opinion you can not find a better jig no matter what style you are looking for than siebert jigs--great jigs and great guy to deal with 1 Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted July 23, 2013 Super User Posted July 23, 2013 I have been solely using North Star Custom Baits jigs for a little over a year now. Customer service is top notch and its the best quality jig I've found and used. I prefer a larger profile jig so I use mainly the Black Series Flipping jigs. I have 4 that I use 99% of the time. The Brown Craw is my favorite followed by the Insanity, Black n Blue and Frogger. My last order I had some custom green and blues made up for grins. I'm excited to see them, When I want a swim jig, I use their Flip N Swim series. My favorite color is the Mistake followed by Salsa, New Gill and I've been testing some Crappie colored jigs for awhile too. For weights, I only use 1.2 oz year round. Quote
tbirds00 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 My favorite is North Star Jigs as well. Type and weight depend on what type of structure or cover Im fishing but they make great jigs for all situations. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted July 23, 2013 Super User Posted July 23, 2013 Siebert has the best customer service of any major jig manufacturer I have found. 90% of the jigs I use are northstar and siebert. I also like dirty jigs and revenge swim jigs. Wire tired and paint durability are major factors for me. 1 Quote
tholmes Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I use Arky style jigs in 1/4. 3/8. and 1/2 oz.sizes and blue/black, green pumpkin/red flake, PB&J, etc. I roll my own. Tom Quote
Frenchman83 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I have a friend who makes jigs and spinnerbaits. I use his. G&G Spinnerbaits. Right now I am using a 7/16 and 3/16. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted July 23, 2013 Super User Posted July 23, 2013 My vote goes to NorthStar also. Best jig that I have ever fished!! Quote
duckmaster55 Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 best jig is the pepper custom baits flippin' jig. 3/8 ounce one with natural colors works great. one thing about them is that they have simple orange dots for eyes that bring in fish like magnets no matter the water clarity. you cant get them at bass pro so i just order them off of tackle warehouse Quote
gripnrip Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 My biggest fish this year has came off of a Siebert 1/2 oz black/blue football jig. So Siebert gets my vote. You can get custom jigs starting at 2.50 a pop. Quote
MrSwimJig Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 North Star 5/16oz Original Swim jig and 3/8oz Black Series jig. Quote
