Any of you guys use this stuff? A guy who lives a few miles from me has his own small in home jig/spinnerbait making setup and he holds garage sales every couple months to sell his inventory. He told me to pick up a can of this stuff. He claims that he hoses down his line and reel with it after every outing. Supposedly keeps the reel clean and water free as well as lubricating and prevents line spool memory.

It weakens mono line.. I used it on a new spool and it ruined it.. I posted about it on here and one of the guys broke it down scientifically and it made sense if you search you will find it.. They told me use kvd L&L instead.. I did and I must say if it wouldn't be for that I wouldn't like floro!! The stuff is amazing!! Search for KVD L&L vs Reel magic! Some awesome info

Reel Magic is nothing more than silicone spray. It washes off quickly and is not absorbed.

I use nothing but a hose rinse on my saltwater reels and don't do it every time, all my reels are perfect.  Only have mono a couple of set ups and don't use f/c, warm water soaking before spooling to curtail coil is all I do.

I found out the hard way that there is a difference between a silicone spray and a true conditioner.  When using Reel Magic I didn't notice much of a difference in the way the line behaved when I let it soak overnight.  After some research I discovered the KVD Lure and Line Conditioner and noticed a considerable difference in line behavior doing the same thing.

I switched to the KVD stuff and never looked back.

X2 - Especially effective on UL 2# test XL. Casts like a dream and no breakage issues. I truly believe it is value-added.

Where can I buy the KVD? I don't recall seeing it at Wal-Mart. My other options are Dick's and other local sporting goods stores. No real decent tackle shops close by that I can think of.

I bought Real Magic over the weekend.  It works... sort of... but then it washes off quickly.  Like other's have said, it's just silicone spray.  It will be useful for other things but I'm going to pick up some KVD conditioner tonight and treat my line.

I sprayed my car down with KVD L&L.  It's faster and it gets better mileage.

Good call. My sister's brother's uncle's cousin measured a gain of 25 HP on the dyno after treating his moped with it.

Early spring fishing - where you have ice forming on spools, guides, level winds, etc. I think reel magic works better.   Everything else, I think that the KVD line treatment is better.  JMO

you can get KVD LL by the gallon at TW.

DO NOT buy the 4oz bottles for $8 when a gallon can be had for $65.

I get the gallon and use a "windex"/ quart spray bottle to apply mine. A gallon has lasted me a year, with a few squirts to each spool each time out or so.

Are you drinking it? It should last much longer than a year.

I used to be a die hard Real Magic (note the spelling!) user, until I gave KVD L&L a try.  Never looked back, L&L just plain works better than any other line treatment.

What is TW?

Tackle Warehouse, you are in trouble now! As I've said before, KVD LL is like franks hot sauce, "I put that s*** on everything"

Reel Magic, WD 40 etc have no place near the internals of a reel. They actually degrease parts they come in contact with. For line management KVD L&L is the way to go. For the reel itself a rinse in fresh water and air dry before storing will keep you in good shapre between regular cleanings.

I fish mainly from shore so the farther out I cast I can reach the fish breaking on the top. I use reel magic on my spools and on my rod eyes with no problems for years yet.I have to say it works for me.

+1..... Heed this reel repairman s advice, every reel technition that I have known will tell you the same thing; Real Magic gums up more reels than everything else combined. It turns the reels lubricants into glue!

I use TangleFree, not a big fan of KVD line conditioner.

Line & Lure... Why is it called that? Do you put it on your lures too?

I don't know - simple alliteration?  I do polish my reels with it, and my rod blanks and guides after cleaning.  I've even used it on my sonar screen in a pinch, when the dried droplets got obnoxious.
