mcwiggles Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I'm looking to start fly fishing, but all the waters I have to fish at are really murky. Will it still work? Quote
MichiganFishing1997 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Yes it will work fine depending on what your using. I use streamers and cone head wooley buggers in murky water. Quote

I'm sorry, but I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, I havent even got a rod and reel yet, just looking into it. But I actually want to go for mainly panfish, and small bass. Quote
MichiganFishing1997 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Foam spiders work great for me for panfish in murky water. Do you have a local store that has a fly fishing section? Quote

MichiganFishing1997 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 First off I would try and do some online research and try to educate yourself as much as possible. Second, I strongly suggest going to Cabelas and talking to someone in the fly shop, they will be able to show you flys and help you with many other things. Leaders, casting form, and things like that. You may also be better off getting a combo from there instead of walmart, you will have much better luck with customer service if anything goes wrong. Super User flyfisher Posted July 25, 2013 Super User Posted July 25, 2013 In a short answer yes you can. Some of the best days chasing big brown trout which act pretty much like bass have been on high and muddy conditions. I have also had great days fishing for smallies and largemouth under the same type of conditions. Big rabbit hair streamers and anything that moves water will work. Some flies have rattles on them too but i have never tried them so i can;t comment to much on their effectiveness. Quote
livetofish28 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 poppers in shallow water big flashy streamers and that should do it good luck Tight lines Andrew Quote
