whiteghost Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Hello fellow anglers. new here and so far like the site. I know this is a shot is the dark, but maybe you can help me with my delema. I've lost a lake, well not really lost or misplaced it still some where in the richmond va area. I believe with in a hour or so. Many many many moons ago my Dad I would go there at least once a year. It was about 30 acres U shaped and quite deep. The story goes is the owner was about to sell it when he invented a lure, may some cash off it and was able to buy it. The ramp and bait shop are located at the bottom of the U, and at the time. Ive hours of blind web serches to no avail. Well I know this is a impossible task, Maybe it will jog someones memory. Thanks for the help Ghost Quote

Thanks for the replyes. ghost. At thirty acres we're talking about a pond. I started looking along the I-64 corridor between Richmond and Charlottesville and to find a pond that small you have to maintain a "Eye altitude" of 1200 to 1500 feet. There are just too many ponds to count. So we'll need more information. Also, how long ago did you fish this pond? It's very possible a community was built around it. Quote
fishinkeebs Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Is it louisa resevior? There is an old store where you buy the pass. It is electric only. Was the lake your talking about allow gas motors or is it electric only? Quote

Like the lake I grew up fishing on. guys I dont think it was resiover, to the best of my knowledge it was privately owned. At more motors it was electric only. Super User Sam Posted July 25, 2013 Super User Posted July 25, 2013 I am struggling with this one. Private deep "U" shaped large pond or lake with a ramp and tackle shop within an hour or hour and half from Richmond. Lots of area to cover within an hour and a half of Richmond. I cannot understand why there was a tackle shop at a private pond? Maybe the water was not private or if it was private the owner sold baits, etc. to the people he allowed to fish. I will look at some maps but I think we may not be able to find the place. Quote
Traveler2586 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Sounds like what I knew as a Fish camp; which was a body of water with a shack where you would pay for a days fishing, some sold bait, ice, sodas, snacks, etc. I don't know of any left in these parts, the ones I went to were more to the northwest from DC. Super User Sam Posted August 6, 2013 Super User Posted August 6, 2013 Whiteghost, I gave some thought to what Traveler said and remember that there is a private pond around the Southpark Mall in Colonial Heights where you pay to fish. I have never been to the tackle shop in this area to pay to fish but that could be the place, if it is still open. It is about 35 minutes south of Richmond, depending on I-95 traffic. Just a thought.
