ib_of_the_damned Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 What do you guys think an all around buzzbait color and weight would be that would work in the daytime as well as night? I have been looking at the 1/4oz Cavitron Ghost Minnow Gold Blade or the 1/4oz Cavitron black on black. Or should I get the Ghost Minnow color and bring a black replacement skirt for night time? Thanks for the help in advance! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 13, 2010 Super User Posted July 13, 2010 3/8 oz Cavitron, black on black Quote
river-rat Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I've never used the Cavitron brand (although I'm sure it's a good bait), but you can't go wrong with either of the colors you mentioned. I use the original Lunker Lure (1/2 oz.) and the Boogerman Racket Buzz (3/8 oz.) in black with black blade and white with gold blade. Quote
Indiana Bass1 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 You need two colors, black on sunny days and white on cloudy days. Quote
Dixon Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I have tried black on black roadwarrior and nothing. Tried it many times. Any tips Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted July 13, 2010 Super User Posted July 13, 2010 You need two colors, black on sunny days and white on cloudy days. x2 You don't need to be picky on colors for these.Light and dark and maybe throw in a chartreuse but as long as you got white and black your all good. Ballpark Frank Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Black is all I ever use now, I have a decent selection of weights and brands though. My particular favorite is the Reaction Innovations Squeaky Dolphin, but I don't think they make them anymore. Quote
InLikeFinz Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I have the most luck with the Cavitron in chartreuse. 3/8. It also makes more of a chirp/gurgle than some of the others I have used which I think helps. Jason Quote
backwater4 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 All Black All White I just switch the two up all day or night. One of these colors will definiitely work. (1/4 oz.) Quote
Indiana Bass1 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I was fishin a black 1/4 oz buzz bait last night right at dark when it looked like a toilet flushed. The first thing I noticed was that the blade went silent so I looked that way and saw the big sink hole where the buzz bait had been. I felt the pressure and slammed the hook home. Fellers this is how bass fishin is supposed to be. You gotta love it. If that doesn't get your heart a poundin' you must be dead! Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I have 2 buzzbaits: 1 all black one for bass and 1 chartreuse for Pike and Muskie... That's all you ever need If you get no bites with the black, try some different retrieves. I have even cranked them so slow that they don't even break the surface. Quote
TrippyJai Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I have black and white cavitron buzzbaits on gold blades. Does the blades matter if they are red, black or gold? I need some confidence in these baits, I haven't caught one on a buzzbait yet so I stopped using them. Quote
Indiana Bass1 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Just got in from wackin em on the black buzz bait again. I am fairly new to buzz bait fishin, but it is a big bass lure for sure. They wear you out that first half hour after sundown!! Another lure to add to the arsenal. Quote
Skeet22 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Ghost minnow Cavitron with gold blade! Now if I could only keep the redfish from destroying them... Quote
cwb60 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Sounds like some of you guys are saying throw a black one in the daytime. Is this correct? I have been throwing a white & chartruse or a solid white in the daytime, and then only in shaded areas. Switching to black at night. Haven't had much success with the black at night, but have caught some on the white and white & chartrusse in the daytime. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted July 15, 2010 Super User Posted July 15, 2010 You mean they make them in other colors besides black and white? Allen Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 If I had one color to choose from its a black one Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I throw White/Chartruse in the day and Black at night. I would like to know if blade color really matters?? What yall think? Quote
Vinny Chase Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I have black and white cavitron buzzbaits on gold blades. Does the blades matter if they are red, black or gold?I need some confidence in these baits, I haven't caught one on a buzzbait yet so I stopped using them. Maybe its the products we are using but trust me i didnt have much confidence in them either until i got the booyah double blade spinner bait and catch no less then ten a night (black on black) Just keep trying Quote
ib_of_the_damned Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 Does the blade color really make that much of a difference in buzzbaits? And would the idea of getting a cavitron in ghost minnow and putting a black skirt on it at night be a good one? I just want to buy one buzzbait and have it be versatile. Quote
erau618 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I've never used the Cavitron brand (although I'm sure it's a good bait), but you can't go wrong with either of the colors you mentioned. I use the original Lunker Lure (1/2 oz.) and the Boogerman Racket Buzz (3/8 oz.) in black with black blade and white with gold blade. Both the Lunker Lure and Boogerman are both made in Southern Illinois. Quote
bassin is addicting Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 All Black All White I just switch the two up all day or night. One of these colors will definiitely work. (1/4 oz.) X2 i like gold blade with white and red blade with black Quote
