I used the two loops thru the eye and cinch knot for eons. For the past few years I do a three loops thru the eye and cinch it knot. I find that the three loop thru the eye lasts longer. It works for me.

What knot you you use?

How often do you retie your knots?

I retie my knots often and right after every bass over 3lbs+ is caught. Just to be safe when that new state record strikes I have to land it. Fishing isn't luck, it's skill, it's my passion.

Let's raise a retie awareness.........don't forget to practice it often.

I do the trilene knot which is what you use bigbill except I do two loops I retie whenever I start to see wear on the line.

Palomar for braid- retie when I see any fraying at all.

San Diego Jam for all others- retie if I see or feel a nick anywhere in the line.

I'll also retie after 5 -6 fish, or sooner if fish had to be dragged out of cover a few times.

3 knots for both fresh and saltwater.  Braid gets my own version of an improved clinch, leader to a swivel or a hook is an ordinary clinch and lures get a double wrapped loopknot, seldom do I tie line to leader but when I do it's an alberto.  I put a fresh leader on everday for saltwater, but my braid knot is examined but not always retied.  Leaders get frayed from gill plates, I do check them and retie if needed. Freshwater I check them but don't change leaders or knots that often.

SD jam is all I really use anymore; check the first few feet of the line every few casts or more frequently, and retie as and when needed.

I use the shaw Grigbsy knot for all lines. I have yet to break it. My 40 pound PP slick breaks before the knot.

I learned the San Diego Jam after the last knot thread and its the knot i use for everything now.
