vaparrothead Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I've been some Pro tips that they take off the split rings from crankbaits and replace them with Cross-Loc snaps. One of the reasons given was line sometimes gets in between rings which throws off the retreive. Anyway how many of you change out the split rings? What size cross-loc do you replace it with and more importantly does it make a difference in function? Thanks Quote
Stringjam Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I do remove the split rings and use a #1 Berkley Cross-Lok. A snap provides the smallest, slickest contact survace for the eyelet of the crankbait to swivel against - - does it allow significantly more action than a small split ring? I don't know - but I dig em'. Quote
Super User Marty Posted March 26, 2007 Super User Posted March 26, 2007 I use a 1/2" duolock snap attached to the split ring. Many think this messes up the action, but I don't see it. At any rate, I have full confidence in doing it. Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I never tie direct to split ring. I always use a snap. I still retie often as well. Brad Quote
