I have been using spider wire braid from Walmart - 15#.. What is more of a smoother line? I'm reading that Suffix 832 or Power Pro is the way to go.

For the people that used both line: which one do you prefer? Also, what kind of PP of thats the choice?

I personally like power pro it casts very well with the setup I'm using. I think you will be fine with 832 also after reading all the good reviews on it I may need to try it. Good luck.

Tight lines

Use a braid with an 8-strand weave such as Daiwa Samurai, Sufix 832, PP Super 8 Slick or Tuf-Line Supercast.  Supercast has an outer coating, and isn't as thin per poundage as other braids.  It is very smooth, tho, and from reviews I have read, it doesn't wrap around the rod tip, and wind knots are rare.  Haven't used mine enough yet to confirm those claims.

I've had really good luck with the power pro slick.  I prefer to suffix 832, but not by a large margin.  I'm comfortable with either.

I'm gradually switching from standard power pro to the slick version on all my setups that use braid, I just wish it had more color variety as that is how I remember what # line is on at a glance.

I use both 832 and PP. I haven't used the PP Slick version but I have not complaints with the original. Either one would be fine in my opinion.

I am a big fan of PowerPro.  Not their super slick but their regular.

Will be returning a reel I bought from walmart online, which was a Exo spinning reel, seems like it will only last a year, quality isn't the finest. I have spiderwire brand new line on the reel and cannot find the box/receipt...UGH! Might go with the Sufix 832

I think you would REALLY like #20 Tuf-Line on spinning tackle.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't think there's a huge difference between the reputable brands.

I have a combination of PP 15 lb, Sufix Performance 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 65, Sufix 832 10 lb on spinning and bait casting rigs, freshwater and saltwater rigs, and I can't say I see a noticeable difference. The 832 sure seems more supple right out of the package, but the other braids break in after a trip or two

IMO - stick with Sufix or PP and you'll be fine

Yea the Power pro is what I spooled up yesterday, going out and trying it tonight, had to hook up my old rod to me new reel though, but at least I can test out the reel. The line seems to have a lot more memory than the spider wire, but it seems like it will be a smooth line to cast

Spiderwire is a great braid to use. Coming soon is a new and smoother braid from Berkley Trilene called, Professional Grade Tracer Braid.

Regular power pro#20 and #50 for years with no trouble. Both casting and spinning. Actually converted a 65-70 yr old man I fish with.

regular powerpro is rough, noisey, digs in and isoutdated.powerpro super slick solves all those issues.sufix 832 is also a great line.i prefer 832 because it sinks and I feel it is more abrasion resistant than other braids.

I use regular PP, I can buy it anywhere any time of day and the price is right.  Nothing ever heavier than 15# for bass in heavy cover, lighter for open water.   20# is my usually inshore size, although if I'm fishing beach I'm dropping down to 10 or 15# as most of the fish aren't going much more than 20 pounds or so and I want as much line capacity as I can get.  15# probably will break around 20 pounds or so, using the drag correctly the chances of a fish breaking the line are remote, the knots hold just fine.

I've used other braided lines and they work well too, I don't see any real advantage 1 brand over another.  My strike rate doesn't seem to vary, my landing rate is probably about the same, bottom line use what you like, it's your money.

Ill tell ya what not to try and that is 15# Kanzen. From my own trials this is very weak line and have since read of a number of others that report the same of this # test. Customer Service at Seaguar is non-existent as well so no help from them.

I will look into this and respond tomorrow. This has not been my experience.

I did numerous tests prior, with just back from the lake line having lost 2 lures, and got around 9 pounds before the line & or knot broke. The line was put back on its spool and has set for over a month. I just went and tried it out with the end that never saw the water used palomar knot a few times and through eye twice 7 turn uni knot. I got up to 12.6 pounds with said uni knot and a low of 10.2 with palomar knot.

The same uni knot on other 15# braid gives me over 20# before line/knot breaks. Plus I have 8-10# braid that is stronger. I like the line in other areas casts great ,quiet, didnt notice any bleeding of color but the reel was a Helios that is black so it would not be easy to notice.
