Super User 00 mod Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Dont tell anyone, but I am calling in "sick" There is a conservation effort that needs to be tended to. There are some starving fish on the TN river that need to be fed and I am doing my part... Anyone else make brash decisions like this?? Jeff 4 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 I've been on sick leave for 10 years. Leaving late this morning, tide change is in an hour. 2 Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Yep, as CEO of my company I tell my assistant to add to the calendar that I am meeting with Mr. Bass and will not be in the office. Works every time. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Good Luck my friend ~ Hope those bass are Starving . . . . A-Jay Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Of course....I did it even more frequently in college which may or may not have contributed to why it took 10 years to graduate all those years I took off from school were totally worth it. Quote
aquaholic Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Back in highschool a bunch of friends and i would ditch school and go fish the river. Afterwards we would go to someones house, crack open some beers and grill some burgers. I wish i could go back in time and slap the hell out of myself for always wishing i was older....... Quote
MrSwimJig Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I have this scheduled on my work calendar once and sometimes twice a month. I call it working from home days. Quote
wngan9447 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Have fun and tight lines..... Good thing I read this at work. Too many "good" ideas coming from this forums. Quote

I wish i could go back in time and slap the hell out of myself for always wishing i was older....... d**n those were the day, change the beer with an illegal rolled cigar type plant and that was used, wish I didn't do that, but even though it was bad, it had some sort of Sandlot type mysticism to it. Thank God I grew up though Quote
paul25 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 one advantage to working for the rail road is unlimited sick days , so needless to say have used my fair share out on the lake lol Quote
BamaBassChaser Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Haha, I did the same thing this morning so I could hit the local pond. The fishing was kind of slow but it sure beat being at work. Quote
Scorcher214 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Yep, also skipped back in high school to fish. Would go to my important first two classes then off I went. My mom would excuse my absences haha. Quote
Bass Dude Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I'm too scared to call in to go fishing. I always think something bad will happen 'cause I lied to go fishing. I'm lucky though, I can just tell them I'm going fishing and get the day off!! Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted July 19, 2013 Author Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Just rolled back in from the river. We had a great time at the "conservation meeting" we had this morning. They were right. Starving fish. We had our share of 30-35 of them. Unfortunately, they were all small(I guess from starving). But we will be back to keep feeding them and make sure they grow big and fat!!!! Jeff 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Way to go Jeff ~ So what's the average calorie count of a Scrounga ~ ? A-Jay Quote
wisconsin heat Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Not skipping work, but I skip sleeping instead. I work until about 1 am so I just stay up the extra 4 or 5 hours and go fishing in the morning. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 20, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 20, 2013 I was up at 3am Thursday morning, fished until noon. Went home and slept 3 hours before I got up and headed to a different lake and fished from 8pm Thursday night until 9 am Friday morning. The numbers and average size of the fish we were catching was so much better than normal. The fish hit so much more aggressively at night too. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 20, 2013 Super User Posted July 20, 2013 The only problem with fishing at 3 or 4 in the morning is I can't get these fish into the net, mine is too small and Frabill discontinued the larger size.........but I'll live with it......lol 1 Quote
