trupp30 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Does anyone use this type of worm? If so, what colors do find to be most productive? What is the quality and quantity of bass you catch using the worm? Thanks for any help. Quote
Kevin22 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Yes. I like green pumpkin, watermelon, and black. A 14"+ fish will have no problem sucking down that worm. Quote
martintheduck Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Blue fleck 10" powerworm. Caught everything from 5+ pounders to little 1 pounders. Good worm for c-rig and weighted worm setup. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Junebug has worked well. Good night time bait. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Yes - Black is a Staple. A-Jay Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Nope, it's the Thumper for me, especially Blue Fleck. Quote
MrSwimJig Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I use it in green pumpkin, big fish love it as do little dinks. Quote

Thanks for any help. only worm I throw other than the 7" version and always in pumpkinseed. 4/0 hook has always been interchangeable for me and hook ups are great. Best worm out there! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Yes - Black is a Staple. A-Jay A black 10" Powerworm is responsible for my PB largemouth from NY state, a 7-2. I don't throw these much anymore, but this is a staple bait that will produce anywhere. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted July 19, 2013 Super User Posted July 19, 2013 Great bait, and colors for me would be Greenpumpkin,Junebug, black,Black with blue flake, black grape! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 20, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 20, 2013 Black/blue, blue fleck, and red shad are staples in the lakes around here in the 10" power worm. I've caught fish shorter than the worm on them. Quote

You can use it in many different applications from flipping to a Carolina rig. But with all of the different ribbon type baits out on the market there's a new one that has a different vibration pattern to it. It is the Berkley Havoc "Federale". With it's ribbed egg sack you get a better hook to catch ratio. http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/soft-bait/havoc/federale I hope this help you the next time your out on the water. Quote
Basseditor Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Blue fleck. I won big bass in a tourney at Amistad (8.44) but I've caught more 5-10 pounders on that bait/color then any other color. Half ounce tungsten and 25 pound flourocarbon. It's my favorite bait if I think I'm in an area that might have big bass. And now I only use a 7/0 worm hook. Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 20, 2013 Super User Posted July 20, 2013 More night tournament have been won using 10" Berkley Power worms than any other lure. The black or black w/ blue flake is a staple for night bass fishing. Tom 1 Quote
Grantman83 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Isn't there a saying that you can bring use any color as long as its grape/plum Quote
Primus Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I usually throw it with a 3/8 or 1/2 oz tungsten sinker. Any color that you throw with other soft plastic baits will work with the Power Worm, Watermelon Candy is one of my favorites. Quote
trupp30 Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 Thanks for the advice. I fished these for the first time in a tournament this weekend. I had a limit and was hoping to score a nice kicker. I started to throw a 10" green pumpkin power worm, and I quickly landed 2 bass. The problem was the first was 11" and the second was 13". Hopefully next time the will land me that kicker fish. Quote

trupp30 Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 All of you who use black. Do you throw in all types of water clarity? Or is it effective in only certain situations? Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted July 26, 2013 Super User Posted July 26, 2013 As others have said, it is the quintessential nighttime bait. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted July 28, 2013 Super User Posted July 28, 2013 Motor oil in the fall is an absolute killer bait here.. other than that green pumpkin, black, black blue fleck Quote
