Rage Anaconda Vs. Recon Worm

Hey guys. I've been using the Rage Tail Recon Worm and I really like it a lot. Only problem I've run into is its a little like Senko's IMO. Catches fish but doesn't last long. So, I was wondering how they compare to the Rage Tail Anacondas? Is there a noticeable difference? The body on the Anaconda's seem to be a little more rugged. Or should I just bite the bullet and keep buying the Recon's b/c they do such a good job catching fish? Thanks!

To me, they are completely different baits.  The Annies are worth trying, but you'll see what I mean when you fish them.

How would you say they are different? I mostly Trig the Recons.

They are different baits, and i know what you mean with the recon durability, it's because of the ribbed body. The annies are more durable, but a different animal all together,that said, try them, you won't be disappointed.

i just bought a pack of the anacondas, they're a bit big for my home lake but i really like the action, i haven't tried the recon's but i dont think id like them, im not a fan of the deep ribs on the body, it makes them hard to texas rig stright.

How long are both of these baits? Iv been wanting to try some of the anacondas.

The Recon is 8'' and I believe the Anaconda comes in 7'' and 10''. I'd be looking at the 7'' whenever I get the Anacondas.

I really haven't had any trouble getting them straight on the hook. They just wind up tearing after a fish or two. But, I know I will catch a fish or two on each worm.

I've begun to learn that there is no such thing as too big.

Get the 10" Annies.  4" of it is tail.

For the Rage Tail worms the thumper is my favorite, followed by the anaconda, and then the recon.

The durability on the recon is terrible. The anaconda and thumper last several catches for me. Mend-it is also great for fixing these, and other of the delicate plastics.

I may pick up a pack of anacondas if BPS carries them. Id just be worried about it being a little big for my neiborhood ponds, although we do have 7+ lb. fish, so maybe not. How do you fish them?

You'd be surprised. I've caught dinks on 8 and 10 in worms before.

I've had 10" bass choke down the 10" anaconda.

We call them "bucketmouth" for a reason.

I fish mine t-rigged. 3/16oz most of the time. I'll move up to a 1/4oz if I'm fishing 10 fow or more, or if it's breezy and need to make longer casts.

One thing I read about on here a while back was to rig it so the direction of the curl goes down instead of up. The action of the tail stirs up the bottom, and causes more of a commotion. Such a great idea! Give it a try.

Play around with the length of the tail, too. Cutting an inch off the tail provides a much more aggressive action on retrieval.

I like them on a weighted swimbait hook.  Don't be afraid of the 10 inchers - I think they are a better bait than the 7" version. More action, more level fall.

I like the look of the recon worm more than the anaconda, but everyone keeps saying the anaconda is a lot sturdier than the recon. Would it be a better bet to just go with the anaconda? If so, the 7'' or 10''?

I had the same problem with my Recon Worms tearing up on me, too, until I was rigging one up in Big O's boat one day. He showed me a better way to Tx rig that worm. The perfect rigging for the Recon Worm, is to use a Moaner Stick'r hook (5/0), and run the point of the hook DIAGONALLY through the bait, so the hook point comes to just under the surface, never poking through the bait, or skin hooking the point in the top of the bait. That hook was designed with a different angle to it, that works for all soft plastics rigged this way, but is almost needed for the Recon to keep it from getting shredded up. I was catching numerous fish on each Recon after that, and they never tear on the cast.
