CxThree Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Hi, I am assuming if you have 2 fish finders, you would mount one to the rear and one to the trolling motor? Is that correct? If you only have one, where would you mount it? Quote
3dees Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I would go with the tm mount seeing that I spend 90% of the day on the bow. if you fish shore line shallows, then it's not that important. for trollers, you would want it on the transom. I would'nt be happy with only one. Quote
Traveler2586 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Hi, I am assuming if you have 2 fish finders, you would mount one to the rear and one to the trolling motor? Is that correct? If you only have one, where would you mount it? You didn't say what type of boat your using so it's difficult to answer your question. But where to place a single transducer/depth finder (DF) depends on how and where you fish. Such as, do you need to know the depth as you navigate to your fishing spot? Do you search for structure/cover while driving your boat from the rear or at the console, etc. Or do you fish deep water humps in the lake and need the depth finder and TM to keep you on the hump. If you fish shallow shoreline or weeds with a TM, your usually to shallow for the DF to be of much use; the area the transducer cone covers is too small to see much and the DF may not even read the depth correctly. suggestion, only you know your fishing style. So try a temporary setup both ways and see what works best for you. Quote
martintheduck Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I don't understand what kind of information you're looking for. If you have two graphs, sure, mount one at the console and one at the bow. If you have two transducers then sure, use both of them (one at the trolling motor and one at the stern). At the moment, I have two low-end sonar/graphs mounted, but I only use the one at the console... when I drop the trolling motor to fish, I just swivel the console unit around. Quote
CxThree Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 Thanks Dink. I was saying that if you only had 1, where is the best place to mount it. I think the solution here is to get 2. The boat I am buying has 1 and I probably need to add another. I just have to decide where I want the newer one to be. Quote
