I have a fairly cheap quantum nitrous 40 spinning reel to match it up with. I want to fish crankbaits, topwater, worms, etc please get back to me ASAP!! Thanks Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 17, 2013 Super User Posted July 17, 2013 Bass Pro Shop Extremes. If you can wait for a sale you can get them for 40% off the retail price. Medium heavy, 7-foot with fast action. Be sure to match the rod's parameters (line size and bait weight) with your reel and the baits and line test you throw. Any major manufacturer brand will suffice so go with the rod that feels the most comfortable for you. And one last tip: take your reel with you and put it on various rods to see how it sets and feels. The Bait Monkey is proud of you! Quote
Super User Marty Posted July 17, 2013 Super User Posted July 17, 2013 I've been pleased with medium power rods with fast action as good, general-purpose rods. I use 6-1/2', but 7' should be good as well. I've used various brands. If you're near a Gander Mountain they have their own brand for $60. Any major manufacturer brand will suffice so go with the rod that feels the most comfortable for you. I heartily agree. Factors that are important to me, such as handle length, supersede brand consideration. Quote
