Becasuse of my broken tackle box i was able to aquire 5 new plastic, for a better word, containers. I plan on organizing my lures using each and been more user freindly. I always thought you should keep your plastics in the bag it came in. My question is, is it okay to store them in your tackle box outside of bags.

thanks in advance fellas

I used to store all my Senkos, Tubes, Flukes in a plano box and never had any problems.  Now i prefer to keep all my plastics in the original packages because I am always changing things in and out of my backpack.

I have had great success storing GY baits in the waterproof Plano boxes. I keep rigged GY baits in one box and unrigged GY baits in a second box.

Definitely do not mix different brands in the same container, I have experienced them melting and becoming a gooey unusable mess. My guess is that it's some kind of chemical reaction. I have also heard that some manufacturers use different ingredients in their baiits which will lead to the same gooey mess.

My method works for me as I fish Yamamotos exclusively.

Hope this helps. Cheers and tight lines, Jim

I wouldnt be mixing the brands in the same container per say, but in the same box divided by dividers. There are som soft plastics I have that will dry up so obviously they will be in there bags

A lot of people store them in plano 3700 boxes and I used to do the same but I am getting out of it. I personally prefer to keep them in the package that they come in. If you are fishing the bank and don't have a lot of room for stuff, putting your soft plastics in the box is perfect.

However not all plastics can be placed together, like the elaztech worms made by Z-Man and some of Strike kings that say Elaztech or else they will melt because of putting them near other plastic types. It will ruin your plastics. Also keep Berkley gulp in its package or they will dry out.

As stated above, as long as they aren't elaztech you can store them in plano boxes just fine. I store just about all my soft plastics in 3700 boxes and organize them meticulously.  i like them fact that if I am fishing say a beaver bait, i have the a plano box with the specific size and colors right in front of me rather than going through different bags.

Some things I store in boxes and some I leave in bags. Never had a problem with plastics in boxes other than having salt everywhere. I prefer to leave them in their bags.

I try to keep the new unused open bags of plastics in zip loc bags. But I put the used one's in a desperate

zip loc bag.

On a hot day I think the plastics will melt into the 3700 container??

I also store all my plastics in desperate tackle box so the salt won't rust my hooks on my lures. Since I separated my plastics with salt from my hard baits my hard baits still look like new.
