HMGBASSER Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Quick question new to deep water cranking 15ft to 20ft plus! When u make a cast and ur crank land do u reel fast till it hits the bottom or do u just do normal speed un till u feel hit the ground? Gor me i cant feel it hitting the bottom reeling slow from the start! Quote

Super User rockchalk06 Posted July 16, 2013 Super User Posted July 16, 2013 I usually never use my deep divers as I don't have water that deep, but when I do cast them, I reel for a 5-7 count very fast and then slow my speed to a normal cranking speed. You will want to get them down to their running depth quickly to maximize the time they spend in the strike zone. Quote
HMGBASSER Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 That might be the case im taking my time reeling! Gonna have to go try myself on different retrieve thx Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 16, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 16, 2013 I reel the same speed my whole retrieve unless I'm doing a stop-start retrieve. I've caught a ton of fish as my bait is headed towards bottom and sometimes even on the first couple cranks when I'm over 20' of water. Quote
