JWOA Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I'm started fishing off the shore and off points and my question is where do you cast? Quote
bluezed Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Depends on where/what you are fishing but fan casting is a good idea from shore. Basically cast along the shore line to your left and right and everywhere in between. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted July 15, 2013 Super User Posted July 15, 2013 I work over each place really good by fan casting. I try to cast parallel to shore were I can too. Work up and across the points. Try to cast in the direction no one else does do something different. Quote
cast_and_destroy Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Like evryone else has said, fan casting works. Also look for minor changes in the area youre fishishing and cast towards that. Quote
Super User Marty Posted July 16, 2013 Super User Posted July 16, 2013 It's always good to target visible cover and/or structure. But I also cover as much water as possible because there are lots of good spots where there is no apparent reason for it being good. 1 Quote
Mccallister25 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I agree with Marty. I am limited to bank fishing, and I come across spots at times that are good, and cant understand why. 1 Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted July 16, 2013 Super User Posted July 16, 2013 Fancast so you can cover as much water as possible and hit every piece of cover you can. Also don't be afraid to fish the shallow stuff. You might be surprised how shallow the bass will go. I've caught fish out of 6 inches of water right at the bank. Quote
Lipsinker Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I third what Marty and BigBlock said. I also find I have more luck from the bank when I stand a few feet back from the water if possible. While I lose some casting accuracy and distance, I make up for it with lack of shadows and noise. Quote
McFurie Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Also try dragging something heavy ( jig t/rig c/rig) it helps get a feel the bottom never no when you might find a log or bush no one knows remember where it's at and cast at it with whatever bait is working for you Quote
