I went into town today to pick up some stuff, and my girlfriend bought me a pack of shell crackers. I absolutely love rage tail products, and am excited to try them out. Does anybody have good luck with these guys? I think imma try to rig it on a weighted hook. Can someone explain to me how to rig these, without ripping them up, right from go? I tried one... Not as easy as a worm, thats for sure.

After watching the video, I didnt learn anything I didnt already know. I was hoping he would go into detail on how to rig the hook. I looked on RT's website earlier for their rigging details and couldnt find it there either.. Oh well, Ill find it somewhere.

I rig it on a weighted swimbait hook like this.  http://www.basspro.com/Gamakatsu-Swimbait-Hooks/product/103718/.  Doesn't have to Gamakatsu, could be any brand.  Screw the nose of the bait onto the little spring and then hold the bait beside the hook so you can see where the hook point needs to go in/come out.  Go in through the belly slot and you come out on the top and make sure to burry the point so its completely weedless.  Also make sure the belly fins go one on each side of the hook or else it won't run strait.  It's a great bait but it took me a couple try's to get it rigged properly.  Just be as careful as you can cuz as your probably already found out, they tear pretty easy.

If that doesn't help, maybe this will.  It's another thread about rigging the Shellcracker.

Rigging them right on a weighted hook is really hard unless you have the right size. A Moaner Hooks 6/0 weighted stroke'r is recommended. Personally, I prefer to fip and pitch them with a 1/4 oz weight and a 4/0 offset round bend worm hook.

This is the most effective way to utilize the Shellcracker as a swimbait. Of course you can rig it on its side as well for a slower gliding fall...

I texas rig em, use em on a swim jig, and I use screw in weighted hooks on them

all three methods have been successful!

only bad thing about them is pickerel LOVE em and the tails don't last to long against toothy critters lol

Slice it half, and put it on a drop shot.

If found that the 4/0 Stroker works perfect when side rigging it. It has the most kick arse fall. I killed the pre spawn bass on that and a rage rigged craw both in green pumpkin purple gold. Also when you side rig it, throw it with braid, copoly, or mono and use something fast 6 gear or higher. Don't let it sink but burn it back then slow down. Makes for a small buzz type bait. Displaces a ton of water for how small it is. Makes the bait pretty versatile being they are pricey. Well worth it though!
