I don't understand why everyone cares so much about JDM stuff.  The US Revos look better anyways.  Are they made differently or something?

Made differently in different Countries

Its all about having what the crowd doesn't.  Besides the JDM has demanded higher technology for years.

I've worked on a number of JDM reels and IMO the features vary but there is no giant leap in technology or quality. Owning these models is more of an enthusiast deal than practical one.

Meh. I'll just end up having to return these like I did my Revos. Abu(lost me)For Life.

I had an issue with a few Gen3 Revos. Lews is my new champion. I am curious about the new Orra line...

Crazy to see that the Orra SX is now a msg brake only reel. Guess they wanted to widen the gap between the Revos S.

For someone that hates AG, you sure are in every thread about AG. Why can't you just let it go. We got it, you hate AG. Some of us, like me, have been using AG for over 30 yrs with no problems.

I have all Abu's and they are the best.  I have had Curados, Quantums, etc, that have all broke down on me.  2 out of 3 of my Shimanos were lemons.  Haven't owned another since.  I have yet to have an Abu Garcia brake down on me.

harmon, you are right if you don't like a product don't buy it. I have been using abu products since the mid '70's (5000's, 5500's and 2500C's), Shimano reels since 1980 (Bantam 100's and 300's) and most recently Daiwa. Of all the sites that I visit I have never seen as many problems that individuals on this site seem to have with reels.

A lot of butt hurt guys in this thread. I don't hate Abu reels, as everything up til now has been flawless for me. More and more issues seem to pop up daily too. If I didn't have experience with 3 of the 4 new Revos I would stay out of Abu threads. But I do, and I will share my experiences with whomever I choose. It's not like I'm pimping other brands or saying "this is better than Abu". Calm down.

You really cant judge Abu by Pure Fishing.  A true Abu isn't a Korean/Chinese made Banax/Fox contracted reel.  If you buy a Revo and it doesn't live up to snuff, you are in the same boat as every other clone owner.  Including me.

Your that largemouth gambler guy using a different name right ?

Everyone on here knows about my battles with my new Revos, and how much I loved fishing with them. And despite those issues, I still recommend them with a warning to watch for the issues I had. I don't look at this as hating on Abu reels, I look at it as helping others so they don't go through the struggles I did.

I picked up my very first baitcaster about a month ago. I chose the AG Revo SX. Being my first baitcaster I don't have any other brand to compare it to. I think I'd like to eventually pick a Curado 300 series for a more dedicated saltwater reel but the Revo has been doing just fine.

So far it's been great. It's easy to cast and has a powerful drag system. They have this hole where you can grease the gears without taking the reel apart. Nice little feature.

I've taken it out several times saltwater fishing for calicos and sand bass and its been great. Never had an issue bringing them in and calicos are some feisty fighters.

I never tried to cast one with a centrifigul brake system but I think that would be more suited to my casting style. In any case the reels been a workhorse and I fish it almost every day. I can cast a wacky senko effortlessly a pretty decent distance unlike my spinning reel I had to really whip it to get it out there. Casting cranks with very little effort gets it out there.

I got the AG Veritas 7' mh rod to go with it and the rods been pretty solid as well. I've read some reviews about their rods snapping in weird places but so far so good.

AG seems like a decent brand so far.

The Elite 8 is one sweet looking reel. I also like the USDM Rocket. Just barely got out of the dog house after the last purchase of Gen3's. :threaten:

So far no issues with any of the G3's and we fish em pretty hard.

RVO3 PRM

RVO3 STX 8.0

RVO3 STX 6.4

RVO3 SX 6.4

RVO3 Winch

We did find chips on them under the drag star. Yep everyone had some, Some had more than others. We tear down every reel anyway before use and do our own lubes. So no biggy. But FYI to others.
