Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted July 13, 2013 Super User Posted July 13, 2013 I've caught a few on small crankbaits like the SK Bitsy Minnow or the Rebel Crickhopper but I've done much better using live worms. Quote

CPBassFishing Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 For me its a little nymph under a bobber. Quote
Ohio Dave Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 I love the gills on the fly rod. I will tie up 1/64 jig head and maribu little buggers (most colors seem to work most of the time) poppers are fun when they are really feeding hard and aggressive (the big ones don't have this mode too often) The San Juan worm pattern is very fun too you can adapt those patters to a rod and reel with a tiny casting bobber and work well but you will have to fuss a bit more with the depth Quote
dpeels37354 Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 rebel tad fry I've looked on eBay, amazon, tackle warehouse, and bass pro shop but I couldn't find that lure anywhere. Any advice on where to find one? Quote

Super User Darren. Posted July 15, 2013 Super User Posted July 15, 2013 The mighty nightcrawler is a sure hit. But so are red wigglers. Fav way to fish for bluegills are on long poles (like cane poles). Absolute blast. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 15, 2013 Super User Posted July 15, 2013 I can get them on a 1/16 white rooster tail. Quote
Super User Marty Posted July 16, 2013 Super User Posted July 16, 2013 Rapala Mini Fat Rap. Before that it was the smallest size Kastmasters. Quote
dpeels37354 Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 I was using the Rebel Crickhopper today and was catching a bunch of bluegill like 10+ I also caught 2 small largemouth bass on it. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 crickhopper is a good bait for bluegill and bass... my old PB was caught on a crickhopper that had caught a bluegill. bass attacked the bluegill, jumped through the air like superman, i set the the hook which was in the bluegills mouth, watched the bluegill go down the basses throat in midair and my crickhopper snagged the bass in its mouth. i was glad to take the tradeoff from 4 inch bluegill to 4lb bass... 1 Quote
HLNichols Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I like to use flies or Zoom flukes 4". Spoons work well. I seem to remember buying a package of six spoon lures for cheap from Blue Fox, or something like that, at Walmart. I was very surprised at how well they worked. They had a treble hook with fur tied on. Quote
Mccallister25 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 My favorite is a 1/8 oz. Rooster Tail of any color. I have caught TONS on these little things. Quote
