vincenzo Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 I live in Brooklyn so my nearest lake is prospect park, its said to have the highest concentration of bass in all of New York but I cant catch a d**n fish on a spinner. Any suggestion ? (the water is green from algae and plant matter) Quote
Kevin22 Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Do you mean an inline spinner or a spinnerbait? Any time I see green water the first thing to fly though the air is a white double willow spinnerbait. Quote
Stren_g Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 What Kevin said, I do well with white spinners in almost any condition. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 13, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 13, 2013 War Eagle and Booyah are my 2 favorite spinnerbait brands. I also like white in green water. Painted blades are usually best on cloudy days or with heavily pressured fish. Quote
vincenzo Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 what about regular non-colored blade spinners, whats a good skirt color and blade for these kind of waters Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 13, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 13, 2013 what about regular non-colored blade spinners, whats a good skirt color and blade for these kind of waters What is a "regular" spinner to you? Do you mean an inline spinner like a Mepp's or Roostertail, or a safety pin style spinnerbait? White with silver blades would be my pick in most situations if I was facing green water color. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted July 13, 2013 Super User Posted July 13, 2013 Inline spinner or spinner bait? For inline spinner, 1. Mepps Anglian #3 silver blade, Brown tail 2. Joe's Flies 1/4oz bass size in firetiger apache or blackgnat. 3. Panther Martin spin fly #6 silver blade, yellow fly. For spinnerbaits I tweak them. They don't catch fish for me right out of the package. 1. Colorado or indiana blade or blades if twin blades. 2. Silver blades for clear water, gold for Staines water. 3. Blue glimmer skirt for clear water, chartruese skirt for Stained water. 4. Mister twister split double tail grub for a trailer. White for clear water, chartruese for stained water. Don't forget the trailer hook and yum shad scent. You can also vary your blade color between silver and gold for all water conditions. Quote
