senkoking Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I hear tubes are great lures, so i want to start using them. What are the best tubes and colors? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 14, 2010 Super User Posted July 14, 2010 Mizmo Grandes: Black Red Neon, Black Blue Neon and Road Kill Camo http://www.mizmo.com/basstubes.html 8-) Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I have to go with the El Grande Tubes in Watermelon Copper and Bluegill. Quote
Big Tom Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Well, here is another different answer: I enjoy using BPS Tender Tubes. Any shade of brown or green will work just fine. Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 14, 2010 Super User Posted July 14, 2010 I have tubes of different brands ( Zoom, Yum, BPS ), I don 't find one being better than other, so why do I have from different brands ? well, one brand has colors I like the other one doesn 't have that 's why. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 14, 2010 Super User Posted July 14, 2010 I also like the Micro Munch Tackle El Gordo. 8-) Quote
whoopbazz Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I agree, I'm not sure one brand is any better (although I tend to like the original Bobby Garland Gitzit) (probably for nostalgia sake). I like watermellon pepper or similar...color #200 in the gitzit. I use a custom poured 1/16 oz jig head, this seems to help with finicky bites. The key to a tube is...the slower you move it the better...it's a lazy bait. They guy who taught me told me, "You should be able to a sandwich in the time it takes to complete one cast." Not literally, but you get the idea. Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I like the El Grande tubes for a few reasons: - The colors are great and most of them aren't available anywhere else (the smallies LOVE Watermelon Copper). - The ribs give the tube a little more grit, so they hang in the fishes mouth longer (sometimes). - They are a little tougher than most tubes and the heads are thicker. Other than that, I agree with Raul, before I used El Grande tubes, they were all the same to me. I just got different brands because of the colors. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted July 14, 2010 Super User Posted July 14, 2010 I like BPS Tender tubes and the Magnum Flipping tubes. I also like a tube made by Cabin Creek Baits near here in Winchester. I really like browns and greens and smoke colors Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 14, 2010 Super User Posted July 14, 2010 Green pumpkin, black neon, smoke, pumpkin seed are all of the colors I ever need. Quote
Indiana Bass1 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Green pumpkin here, rigging it the stupid tube method using the XPS tube jig with the wide gammy hook. Roadmaster, how's the black with blue flake workin for you? I've often thought about trying that color Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Outlaw Baits in Old Ugly and Dry Creek Outfitters' buzzard snot. Any brand in green pumpkin. If I have those colors, i'm set. Quote
