I am 16, and have fished long as I can remember.  I have been working a lot this summer and take advantage of the time before work to fish. I fish the Meramec river, and a couple subdivison ponds. I have caught bass, cat fish, sun fish, gar, a snake once, snapping turtle, and numerous other fish. I prefer spinning fishing pole, but can fathom a spincast. Any advice would be great!

Welcome! Do use the search feature and pop some of your questions in there. A LOT of material has already been asked and discussed. But ask away if you can't find what you're looking for.

Where is "Hilltop Pond"?

Glad you've caught something out of that part of the Meramec, because that's not the easiest stretch to get things to bite like it used to be.

Look up Hiltop Village Pool. You go to the pool and there is a nice size pond right next to the pool. Makes for a good day of sun fish catching, or a bad day of snapping turtle catching. The turtles are smart. They seek out bobbers, and dive down for the bait.
