I've read a few threads about some good reels under $100 any advice on rods?

I've been very happy with my Mojo Bass from St. Croix. Good sensitivity and balances well with a Symetre.

There are plenty of other threads asking about the best $100 rods.  A search should turn up plenty of reading.

Look at Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth.  MSRP is $129.99, but sometimes can be found around your price.  I like my Falcon Originals.  Also like my Daiwa Jupiter, but haven't used it for contact baits yet, so can't say how sensitive it is compared to the others.  Don't see it matching the Fenwick...for sensitivity or lightness.

The *** Blacks are the hot ticket this year, but so far I like my Fenwicks better.

You know, the flea market and clearance sales at places like Dick's Sporting Goods usually offer even better deals on "$100" rods.

I scored a $110 St. Croix Premier casting rod at DSG for $54 in the clearance rack! Talk about a great deal.

If I were looking at brand new, Shimano Compre because of the OTC warranty. Hard to beat walking into your local BPS with a busted Shimano rod and have them tell you to pick out a replacement...

Wow thats steal and a half!  Everyone talks about great deals at their DSG and when i went in mine, it looked like they originally forgot to add a fishing section and just made an aisle and threw some cheap stuff together.

As far as the rods, I think are Premiers are great rods in the $100 price range.  But i have 2 *** Blacks on they way and cant wait to try it out.

This is gonna sound stupid I suppose. But I've never speant that kinda money on a nice rod. Most ive ever speant was 79.99 on BPS extreme serious rod. and the BPS crankin stick was 69.99, so I dunno if its worth the $ or not to get something more expensive when the stuff Im using now has about as much sensativity as anything I've ever thrown before.. not to say there arent others out there better that what Im talking about. But for the average guy like myself... cant afford anything really high $ , cause to me 79.99 was high!

Growing up i bought Shimano combos...I think it was $30 for the combos.  Then I upgraded to shakespeare rods which I thought was good.  Recently I bought the St Croix Premier rods.  To me the rod made a huge difference.  I would rather not fish than use a cheap rod again.  Im not saying your rod is cheap but the rod is just as important as the reel.

Ok so I've narrowed it down out of these two which would you choose?

Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth or *** Black?

I think your best bet is to look at the 100 dollar mark. Guys have mentioned good rods in the ***, Veritas and Mojo Bass.  I don't think I saw the Shimano Compre mentioned so I will add that to the mix. Those would be the top 4 I would recommend at that price range.

I also was lucky enough to get some premiers for like 35 bucks at dicks. 60 then 25% off and then coupons....great deals abound you must have to look and know what you are looking for

***. It's hard to beat for 100 bucks

This. This forum needs a sticky that reads "The *** *** owns the $100 price point". It's a no brainer.

True, but for 80 bucks the Shimano Clarus is dang hard to beat too. I really liked how the Omens felt, good enough to get one out of a "want only" part of the wallet, but in my short time with my Clarus, it has impressed me more than any budget purchase every has.
