I know topics like these can turn into ticking matches, but I want honest opinions from guys with experience with these reels. I am gonna put my Lews TP on my *** rod I ordered so i'll have my Veritas 7'3 MH that I T-rig with without a reel. I was wanting to spend arouond 150 for a good reel and was debating on a Abu Revo S, SX, STX or a Shimano Chronarch.  I know the Shimano is higher but I may go a little bit more if I get a reel that will last me for years.  I know alot of the complaints of the Abu reel but I'll just keep sending them in if I need to till I get a keeper.  I will be using it from the bank so casting distance will be a factor. Also it will be for Texas rigs and jigs and in a 6:4:1 ratio or lower.

I will say that with a reel you plan on using for Texas rigs you want at a minimum of a 6:1 ratio reel. This will help pick up slack line quickly as you move the bait by raising and lowering your rod tip and to help if the fish picks up your bait and runs toward you. I really love my Chronarch 200e7. I have used the Lews reals a few times (the guide I use has them) and they are good but overall I prefer the Shimano. I have 3 Curado 200e7s a 200e5 and a Chronarch 50mg (in addition to the Chronarch 200e7) that I have had for years and never had an issue with them, and I am very tough on my gear.

Chronarch all the way -  tried, true, proven platform/build.  Smooth and sexy!

Ok now that I sound like a fanboy, I'm not just prefer them over all the reels I've used.  Love my Es and the two 50MGs.

Chronarchs are very fine reels no matter which series they belong to, I know it because I have several from different series, they are built like tanks and last kinda like forever; I do not understand the "new" Chronarch, it´s, to my eyes, a white Curado E, or can´t tell much the difference between the new Chronarch and the older Curado E. The truth is that I would rather save me a few bucks and pick a G series Curado over the Chronarch, but that´s me; however if you decide in the Chronarch you´ll not regret it, as I said, Chronarchs are very fine reels.

Before you buy, let's see what Shimano brings out this week at ICAST.

Another Lews TP.  An STX Gen 2,  Any Chronarch.  Daiwa Fuego. Patriarch.

EDIT:  Should have added a Gen 2 Premier if you can find one in the desired price range.

I'd stay away from abu, my gen 3 revo winch gave me issues and same with my friends stx. I suggest looking at the new daiwa tatula coming out soon, another lews tp or the chronarch.

Chronarch. Had all the Revos this gen except the Premiere and none compare to the chronarch. JMO.

Lew's Tournament.

I actually got a Lews TP for 150 on my first combo, a lot of votes for the Chronarch. If it will last a lifetime I may be a good reel to look for.

It's an amazing reel. So much so, I dumped all of my Revos and got more Chronarchs. Awesome brake system, and it casts a freaking mile. Also very smooth, and decently light weight. You won't be sorry.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the new Daiwa Tatula. Priced right at 150 bucks. 50 dollars more I would consider the Tatula Type R and Chronarch E. I think both these reels will lead the pack at this price point, and both are built to be lasting work horse type reels. Lews are nice out of the box, but I still question long term durability of any reels that come out of that same factory. All the positive reviews I've read on Lews and Revo 3s have been written within the 1st month of use. I've been coming across more and more longevity issues regarding both reels as of late. Just my 2 cents of course.

I briefly mentioned it but didn't get into detail with it. As for revo 3s, they're horrible after a month but I've had my bb1 and tp since December and they still are perfect

Saw the Tatulas, I'm up in the air though on what I want to do.  I want to replace my Quantum Energy and my BPS Extreme in my current line up.  I was going to pull the trigger on a Chronarch E6 as it is on sale for 175 and then pay for a new Chronarch CI4+, but that Tatula Type R has snuck in and has thrown a wrench in my plans.  d**n it!
