CPBassFishing Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 That didn't take very long. got the bait yesterday and caught this 1 1/2lber after an hour of throwing it. However, the bait got ripped right in front of the hook. There was a tear an inch long. Does this happen a lot? What can I do to prevent it? (I did glue it with some "Welders' glue" which is designed for fixing flexible things. It should not tear again because once this stuff dries its like rubber.) I'm guessing that he hit it from the top, which is why he was hooked near the eye. The bait must have gotten folded downward when I set the hook. 1 Quote

No kidding. When I first started fishing it I had several 1lbers nip at the head but they didn't get the hook in their mouth. Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 It will happen a lot. Kyle had 4 bass 1 being over 7lbs follow his 8" Huddleston all the way back to the bank and nothing. He had one headshot it, but not take it. They draw som many fish, you will have followers and not even know. Quote
JT Bagwell Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I need to try these things. I am not a swimbait guy but I keep thinking about trying them. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 15, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 15, 2013 It happens, seems to happen more often with braid because it will cut into the bait and the no stretch rips it through the fishes rough teeth with more force than heavy copolymer or mono does. Make sure to lube it up with some Megastrike to keep it from tearing also. I've had them last 20 fish and I've had baits get wrecked without catching a fish on one. It gets expensive but when you stick a pig on one it's all worthwhile! Quote
