Bass With Spikey Teeth, No Stripe

Hooked into a bass this morning which confused me. Looked like a largemouth, but with no stripe. Went to pick it up and the teeth cut my thumb. Any idea? about 14 inches long.

100% sure it was a bass. Looked just like a largemouth just didn't have a stripe and the teeth were way spikier than a largemouth's. And no pic, wasn't big enough for a picture. i have high standards lol

Looked just like this, except no stripe, a little lighter shade, and an overall smaller fish.

Only green fish with no stripes and teeth I know of are walleye.

That's a largemouth. Idk about the teeth. But that's 150% a largemouth.

Obviously the one in the picture is, but even if it does not have a stripe and it is a slightly lighter shade is it still a largemouth? Maybe a hybrid of some sort?

How big were the teeth? You talking small or noticeable (like.... eff that I'm grabbing the gills) teeth?

Like bass teeth but sharper and spikier. drew blood on my thumb.

I had one that did some nice scraping on my thumb, not enough to draw blood. Caught this LMB in a freshwater river that has been mixed with saltwater. Same description... No stripe.

Not all largemouth/spotted bass have the lateral line. As for the teeth, I bet the fish had been feeding heavily on shad/ baitfish instead of anything off the bottom like craws.

Most likely. Did you notice if the mouth went past the eye or stopped before it? You probably already know that largemouths jaw goes past it's eye. A Spotted bass doesn't. But it's not unheard of for either fish to have no markings. Also on a largemouth it's dorsal fins are not connected.

Yea, like I said it looked just like a largemouth, same mouth, dorsal fin was not connected

Bass can get "toothy" if they aren't eating anything hard. So I'd say mystery solved... Light colored largemouth that had been eating shad for a while.

Light colored bass are not using weeds as cover and/or hanging out in deep water. You throw that bass in a dark livewell and it will change colors in a short while and look like a typical largemouth.
