This is a 12 or 24v trolling motor and has a 12 inch prop. Found it on CL. Anyone know what model it is, or how much thrust it will produce? Needing a starter trolling motor for my 24 foot toon.

I search google hard for info on the 12 inch prop, but no luck finding any useful info. I figure this thing will move the toon around enough to fish when it's not super windy. Gonna run in 24 volt mode with some 2 awg.

What do you guys think? Thanks alot

My father in law had one similar to that i think his was 47lb thrust 12 v it pushed his 17' fish and ski pretty well

A few things:

1.  That model was a standard on my 96 Stratos.  It just had a Johnson sticker on the side instead of Evinrude.  The thrust was 47lbs and it pushed my 18ft bass boat until about 3 months ago.  Those TM are tanks!!  you can purchase parts, props, pins, covers, etc. online.

2.  You may want to be careful as I believe they only come in 42 in shaft length.  That may be too short for a toon.  Also, IMO that would be underpowered for a 24ft toon.

3.  There are two sized props for that motor, I believe it was an 8" and a 12"  You'll have to check the bottom of the prop to determine which one fits.

Good luck

Got the 37lb model on my 78 MonArk. Very reliable motor. Go on Evinrudes page and look under the parts section. They will have a break out of almost all the engines and motors they made. I can view parts for my 78.

That's awesome info guys. Thanks alot. Cool to know the support for these trolling motors is good.

I might keep looking. Really wanna get setup on my toon, but hoping to find a more powerful motor.

I have this old dinky motorguide trolling motor with like a 5 inch prop that pushed my old 24' toon around nice on 24 volt. I am going to sleep on it but might give this thing a try. I am getting it for reasonable money. I can alway upgrade later once the funds get better.

Really wanna start fishing from this toon. Summer pattern is kicking in.

Considering an 82lb hand control trolling motor now. What do you guys think about a hand control on the bow of my toon? Been scouring CL aftering reading the post about being underpowered. Might be good to be able to motor around quick in spots.

I believe they are a 56lb thrust with the larger prop like the one pictured.  You also nee the "pan" that goes with that motor to install it correctly.  How much was it listed for on CL?

Correct the 12" prop models were call High Output. They are three speed and 12 or 24 volts.

The 8" prop models were 41#.

The Pan that goes under the mount has the rubber pads that the motor rests on when stowed.

The "Go Fast" boat crowd likes those old motors since they are so lightweight.

This is the HO model on a 12" jon boat I used to have:

That 12" one is on CL here in KC for $150, guy said he'd take $125. I picked up another TM, though. Thanks alot

If you have an extra $125.00, I'd grab that motor!! Looks to be in great shape and if you ever get a jon boat, it's a perfect one to have!!

That motor was available with a 36" shaft, 42" shaft and a 48" shaft. I had all three.

Those motors are great. We had one on our '93 stratos until this spring. The steering cable snapped for about the fourth time so we finally decided to get one with more thrust. For a smaller boat you can't beat it, especially for $125. And if you're looking for information on the motor, get on Smithville Marine's website and go to the parts section. Type in the model number on the side of the motor and it should tell you just about everything you need to know about it. This was helpful for me this spring when the cable snapped.

Thanks for the info guys. Really appreciate it. I ended up buying a terrova for the pontoon. Just had it out for testing last night and it did great. Getting back on the water tomorrow evening.

Did you end up running a 12 or 24v? And how did it go when you had either one set up? Thanks

I have an old Johnson 24 volt trolling motor with a red, black and one green wire and another green wire with a white stripe. How are the two green connected and what do they do?

 Help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Bob@Foy.com

What are the green wire and the green wire with the white stripe for and how should they be connected to operate  my old Johnson 24 Volt Trolling Motor?

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob@Foy.com
