There are some good used reels that pop up from time to time, be patient and you can get  deal.

:hi:    Welcome to the forum.  Your title is a bit misleading.  No way are you going to buy the "Top Baitcaster" for $100.  There are plenty of threads asking which reel is best for $100 or less.  A search should turn up plenty of reading for you.  However, we all like to help out when we can, so don't ever be afraid to ask a question even if it has already been asked a 100 times.  :teeth:

As stated, the PQ gets nominated every time.  Quantum must be doing something right with it.  I would also see what models of Lews you can get for that price.  Look for models with dual brakes.  They will be easier to learn on if you are new to b/c reels.  Used will give you more options.  Look for Citicas, Curados, Gen 2 Revos (except for SX, many have a hard time with this model), or if round reels don't turn you off, look for Abus or Shimano.  The Black Max 1600 is a joy to use....and very reasonably priced...if you can find one.  I've got 3, but don't plan on getting rid of one anytime soon.  :teeth3:

Magnetic only reels can be a bit harder to learn on.  However, I happen to be a Daiwa fan.  Learned on a Fuego.  If you can find a TD-S or TD-X, it normally will be in your price range, and will make a very good reel.

One more vote for BPS Pro-Qualifier

+1 to the BPS pro-qualifier.  I was contemplating the lews speed spool or the bps pro qualifier, but I found the bps pq used for pretty cheap.  I couldn't pass it up.

Or someone who is just foolish enough to overspend.
