I recently purchased several Cavitron Buzzbaits on Ebay.

The person who had the listing had them advertized as "The original Lee Bailey Cavitron Buzzbait"

Any difference between these that I have purchased and the ones Bobby from MegaStrike Sells?

Whats the story behind Lee Bailey,I see he,along with Roland Martin Endorse the Megastrike fish attractant.

I would have to see the heads to see if they were the original ones. The original ones didnt plane as fast so we changed the head design. As for Lee Bailey. He is like my brotha from anontha motha. I have been best friends with him for almost 20 years. I met him fishing a Bass Masters tournament on Gaston. We both had the same boat and purple in color. It was kind of ironic. I gave him some experimental tubes of Megastrike and next tournament he won a Central Invitational. Coincidence maybe. He also ran the FOXWOODS Bass Challenge -The NE  biggest and best run buddy bass circuit ever. After 9/11 all of the sponsors dropped out except Herb Reed/ Lunker City and myself. He moved down to Alabama from CT a few years ago-Stopped fishing to pursue his Bass advertising and promotion career. He also constructed my website. As for Roland LOL He fishing

So its possibly the head design thats different? Ill post pics when they arrive in the mail for you to verify.

Even though the originals didnt plane as quickly, were you,Lee and others still successful using the original designed Cavitron?

Yes they were successful. The  thing we try to do not only in developing our fishing lures but improving our daily quality of life is to make it better by learning -and applying what we learn to change or make improvements=Evolution

Bobby,

I have been throwing a 3/8 oz black on black cavitron in many different lakes and conditions, and have yet to have a bass even attempt to strike it. There have been times where I throw the buzzbait with no success, then immediately switch to some other topwater the bass clobber it. The thing is, my cavitron is LOUD. The squeak makes it the loudest bait I have by far, and I'm afraid it is spooking the fish. Is this normal?

I normally cast it and retrieve it as slow as possible over flats or shallow weedy areas with no success. Am I doing something wrong?

I caught several SMB and LM's using one this weekend. I've had all of my luck just as the sun is setting.

K, What size were you using. Yes I believe that sometimes the 3/8 oz  can be to large. Thats when I go to the 1/4 oz.size. When the lake is like a sheet of glass i even go to the 1/8th oz size and it is a little bit more subtle and I get the bass to crush them. Try down sizing .

I fish the Cavitrons exclusively. When the situation calls

for a buzzbait, the only decison for me, "Is it Bobby's

Cavitron or Big O's Shad?"

;D ;D ;D

I had a red fish steal my last one a 3/8 shad color with gold blade while fishing a bass tourney this weekend. I cannot tell you how many bass ive caught on this thing. The redfish love them as well. When I lost it I tied on a black on black lunker lure and did not get another bite. Could have been the color. The lunker lure actually made more noise than the cavitron.

i had a 3lb'er crush a 1/4oz black w/red blade saturday night.... tore it up so bad it won't run right.

i tried bending it back...

but i can't get it back to good. ......yet..

i'm not done trying..  they're too good to not give it some more effort.

bought it sat. afternoon..

it was only the 2nd cast with it....  :'(

i've had good luck with the white with gold blade too.

i won't use any other brand...  8-)

i have great success fishing those areas (Cavitrons only), but i like it with some cloud cover and a little bit of wind to break up the surface.

i love the originals just retired my last one this year . i havent tried the new ones yet , i just dont like the looks of the head. i have been making my own buzzbaits for about 10 years now. but i would buy a bunch of them old cavitrons in a heartbeat, i might have to check ebay right know. as for the loudness i love it,  hold your rod high reel slow and hang on.

I have been having tons of success with the black Cavitron recently. So much so that the red hook is losing its color and last night a good one destroyed the skirt. They work and are priced fair. As far as being noisy well thats what I like about them and they can run slow or fast.
