airborne_angler Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Anyone throw soft stickbaits(Senkos,Trick Sticks...) at night with success? Ive been throwing a 5" Black Trick Stick t-rigged weightless with Megastrike on it. I do pretty goodduring the day but once it gets dark, its like someone turned off a switch. No strikes,no taps, nothing from anything, including Bluegill. So is it that soft stickbaits wont work at night? Am I wasting my time by throwing them in this low light condition? Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 11, 2010 Super User Posted July 11, 2010 I have heard of a few people using them, but they just don't put off enough vibration and sound. I have had my only luck on spinnerbaits and topwaters. Quote
Dave P Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 My partner used them at the last night tourney we fished and they were the only thing that produced. It was a full moon, if that makes any difference? Quote
Scorcher214 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Doesn't hurt to try them. But i would recommend something that gives off more vibration/sound, like a spinnerbait with a big single colorado blade or a lipless crank. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted July 11, 2010 Super User Posted July 11, 2010 Why not try to put some rattles in there? Quote
Nice_Bass Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I have fished them on what I believe are walleye rigs. essentially a inline spinner that bottoms out on a single hook. I replace that hook with a EWG and texas rig a senko at night. Usually a swim senko for even more attention. Quote
MikeFl. Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Here in Florida I have had great success at night on 5" senkos, even fishing from the bank. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted April 9, 2011 Super User Posted April 9, 2011 Yes I fish them at night. But I try more than one color because what may work in the day lite may not be a good color at night! And i fish them with more of a jerk action to get them to move more water, I fish them like a jrekbait at night it makes a big differance. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 10, 2011 Super User Posted April 10, 2011 I used to have success with them, but then it died off. My most successful lures have been with a jig w/a chunk trailer or a spinnerbait. I've had some topwater success, but not much. grimlin brings up a good point, try putting on some rattles if you really want to fish them. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 10, 2011 Super User Posted April 10, 2011 Why not up-size to the 7" Senko? Great all around plastic. Quote
