Preytorien Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Yea I saw those rods a few months back when they were clearanced for something around $70. I convinced my cousin to get one, he was in the market for a new one. Now I wish I could find one of my own! They look like excellent rods. I particularly like the reel seats and securing rings. Machined and very solid. Having 2 rods in the past 2 years that the securing rings failed, these rods look more solid than anything I've seen in a while. My cousin has had nothing but great things to say about the Vendetta. He likes the sensitivity and again the solid craftsmanship. I think you'll be pleased with the purchase! Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted July 8, 2013 Super User Posted July 8, 2013 You guys are lucky. I've never seen a sale at the 2 Walmarts near me. My local Dick's Sporting Goods isn't much better...not when it comes to rod and reels. Did pick up some crankbaits at DSG at buy 1 get 50% off 2nd one. Quote
CTGalloway21 Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 when Vendettas went on sale for $30 a few months ago, I got 4 of them. They were the Vendetta 1s, not the newer updated Vendetta 2s. All 4 broke on me around the same place for no obvious reason. I will never use the Vendetta 1s again, even if they were $5. Now Vendetta 2s are awesome. Feel much better in my hands and haven't had one break. Quote

Preytorien Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Yea, I've never seen any issue with the Vendetta. We were fishing an old strip pit and my cousin (owns the Vendetta) snagged something, likely an old piece of quarry equipment, and pulled and pulled on that thing the wrong way (bending his rod) and never broke the thing. It snapped his 20lb flourocarbon before any problems with his rod. He's been using it for 6+ months now with not a single issue. Quote
hooah212002 Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 They are still going to be better than any other rod you can get for $30. Quote
Grantman83 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I had a few of the generation 1's and they were great rods for the money. Only gripe was that they were way stiffer than their rating and a tad heavy but at that price they were the best rod out there. All Abu rods are heavier than their rating though so if you take that into account you should be good. 30 bucks is a steal Quote
tugsandpulls Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 my walmart today had bomber spinnerbaits on clearence for 75 cents i bought 4 to see how good they worked i liked them going to buy a dozen more tommrow Quote
Super User bigbill Posted July 9, 2013 Super User Posted July 9, 2013 I love Wal-Mart fishing equipment sales. I stock up on what I use. I been eyeing new fishing rods lately and nothing is priced between $5 to $19 anymore. I guess my next new rod I'm going to dig deep in my pocket to get it. Everything is like $30 to $100. I still say the most important thing is the reel and the line. Quote
