MMan16 Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Going out tonight gonna use old reliable (the jitterbug) and Black buzzbait might try a crankbait or 2. Just wondering what everyone else likes? Maybe I can try some new stuff out. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 10, 2010 Super User Posted July 10, 2010 Jitterbugs work around here on ponds but I have never caught a bass in a lake at night on one of them or a buzzbait. I use jigs, craws, tubes and worms at night. Quote
BrianSnat Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I like poppers, particularly the Rapala Skitterpop, Heddon Torpedoes, Zara Spooks and Jitterbugs. Quote
MMan16 Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 I was thinking about throwing a jig. I have a few with some pretty loud rattles I would imagine will work good a night. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted July 10, 2010 Super User Posted July 10, 2010 I was thinking about throwing a jig. I have a few with some pretty loud rattles I would imagine will work good a night. Jigs are my favorite night fishing bait. They are also my favorite day fishing bait. I often use rattles at night, but sometimes I do better without them. Big worms are very effective, and can be worked in grass a little easier. A dark chatterbait or spinnerbait can be deadly on a steady retrieve or worked like a jig. RW wrote a few years ago that fishing at night was like fishing during the day, only darker. 8-) If it works during the day and you're comfortable throwing it, its all good. Good luck. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted July 10, 2010 Super User Posted July 10, 2010 been killing them with a strike king red eye shad lipless crankbait !!!! Quote
MMan16 Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 Rat-l-trap sounds like it would produce well. It sounds like most of you guys prefer a loud bait. I watched a few night fishing shows and they were throwing 10in worms and dragging them. Any one have good success with this method. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted July 10, 2010 Super User Posted July 10, 2010 i have... black worms.. Yup. A dark colored worm or jig fished as slow as you can stand. Some of my biggest fish have come this way. Just like fishing during the day, you have to figure out what the fish are looking for. Quote
Blue Streak Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Jitterbug for me, nothing else comes close. Quote
Hot n Tot Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Jitterbugs, also Rapala minnows. slow crawl a jointed Rapala slowly accross the surface at night. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted July 12, 2010 Super User Posted July 12, 2010 Jitterbug, Tiny Torpedo, and buzzbaits. Even had a 7" bluegill hit my buzzbait tonight! ;D Quote
