Bull Shad Vs Bbz-1 Shad

I am looking to purchase one of these two baits. There is a huge price difference in these 2 baits. The bull shad is $55 and the Bbz-1 is $20.

I am wanting this bait to fish in the tail races where I live. Any advice?

Huge difference in the two at all levels but both are good.    they both will weigh about the same, swim differently, etc.

 

Major difference would be the profile.

The question you are asking would be similar to "should I use a plastic worm or jig..."

Both will catch you fish, but are very different.

I would agree with this as well...but yeah staying out of that spat altogether as well.

Now, with respect to the original poster's question which asked specifically about the BBZ-1 and the Bull Shad, the SPRO is a more finished looking product and is more marketable, but the Bull Shad looks more realistic in the water.  If you want to get into swimbaits, then you need to be ready to spend some $$$ regardless of what you choose.  The other thing you need to consider is rod and reel combos to cast these things - the re is a huge difference in the combo setup necessary within the same product line.

 

Are you talking the original 6" BBZ-1 or the newer 4" or even the 2.5" baby baits?  For the Bull Shads, are you talking the 5", 6" or the new 9".  The line and gear requirements might be slightly different.

I'm a swim bait novice, but can say the bull shad gets a ton of bites...Just make sure you have adequate line capacity if your near Atlantic run striper.

The 5" bull shad and maybe the 4" or 6" Spro. I have a setup that will handle those with ease.

I have both of the ones you mention, and my preference is the Bull Shad.  The action is more realistic in my opinion.  Others opinions may vary or differ even.

Both will work, but both have completely different profiles and are two very different lures.
