Hey yall, Im beginning to look at getting a new rod. Im looking for a spinning setup to carry along with my baitcast setup. I would like to be able to throw anything from a 3/16 spinnerbait or rattle trap, to texas rig worms, to shakey heads, to crankbaits, and 3/4 spinnerbaits. Im looking at the idea of a medium heavy, extra fast rod with spinning reel. One pair that I was considering was a medium heavy extra fast dalwa sellus rod and abu Garcia cardinal S30 reel. I ran across an abu Garcia mike iaconelli spinning combo but I was unsure about the tip on it. Does anyone have an input on either setup or any recommendations on other good products to achieve the desired capability?

And if you were to go casting, I bought a powell diesel rod off fish ranger for 50$ and it's an amazing rod..

Im more than satisfied with my casting setup. but im looking for a good setup for spinning to be able to have better finesse capabilities. something I can throw lighter tackle on but don't have to worry if I hook a bigger fish.

I don't think you're going to find one combo that excels at finesse AND 3/4 oz spinnerbaits.

How much are you willing to spend?

I don't really want to spend more than $100. I realized I mistyped originally but the combo im considering is a shimano sellus MH/XF with the cardinal S30 reel

Sellus:  Oops.  Just noticed these are figures for CASTING rods.  Will see what I can find on SPINNING rods.  :teeth3:

7'2" MH XF  spinning rod 1/16-5/8 oz.

EDITED to show SPINNING rod lure specs.  Only way to know if it will handle a 3/4 oz spinnerbait is to try one.  However, don't forget that weight is for the head only...so I have read.  A fellow member has weighed several different size (weights) spinnerbaits.  They all weighed a fair amount more than the listing.

Good Point. I definitely feel like I need a spinning rod, because some days presentations from my casting set up just aren't catching fish.
