Super User BassinLou Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 I couldn't believe the headline, myself. Anderson Silva taunted the wrong guy. Quote
hookedahawg Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I agree, Anderson was a great if not the greatest champion the UFC will ever have, but I didn't care to much for his cockyness. I trained MMA for a short while there thinking I could hang. Let me tell ya, never underestimate anyone, I had a 18 year old kid knock the taste outta my mouth one time lol. All because I figured I had a size weight advantage. Turns out I was wrong haha Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 I think Silva was getting bored - he was beating everyone and didn't feel challenged or threated. He'll get serious next time around. His next opponent may not make the final bell. A-Jay Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Allot of people calling it rigged. Not sure I believe it was rigged but i wonder if in some way Anderson wanted out of being champion and maybe didn't give it his best effort. No disrespect to wiedman cause I believe he could probably beat Anderson Anyway. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted July 7, 2013 Author Super User Posted July 7, 2013 I bet GSP took some notes on that one. Hendricks will put GSP to sleep in that same fashion if he is not careful. GSP and Silva I know fight two different styles and GSP takes a different approach to fighting but Hendricks has some serious stopping power. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Silva is a great fighter. But he has a major flaw. That is him self. When he gets cocky like he did last night. He leaves him self open. In reality I think he was bored. I think the only people he has not beaten. GSP, and John jones. From every thing I have seen. Dana white will get a Silva Jones fight before Silva retires. Now I just don't know what Dana is going to do. As for it being rigged. I think that has poped in a lot of peoples heads. I do not think it was fixed. Out of all the fights he has had. Why make him lose to this guy? I know hes a up and comer. But Bonnar or Sonnen would have brought more attention. Also if he was sick and tired of defending. Couldn't he just drop the belt. I don't think there is a rule about just walking a way. I really think that we will see him never fight at 185 again. Hes A big 185. I am guessing he walks around at 205-220. When he is not trying to cut weight. But other then Jones. There is no one left in 205 that could give him a challenge. What ever he decides to do next. I just hope he doesn't turn in to a chuck liddell. Those last few years for him were brutal. Quote
derekxec Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 i think he got too cocky dude had only 9 fights and he thought he could go in and not take it seriously....then he got caught i like silva but he show boats too much and one day would catch up to him and now it has Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Silva's no fool. He knew he was physically outmatched and tried to get into the younger fighter's head to force a mistake. Obviously didn't work. I don't agree with DW that clowning caused Anderson's loss, it just determined the Way he'd lose. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted July 10, 2013 Super User Posted July 10, 2013 Am I the only one that doesn't get this MMA stuff? Classic boxing for me. 2 Quote
38 Super Fan Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Am I the only one that doesn't get this MMA stuff? Classic boxing for me. Nope, I agree 100%. If people like King didn't destroy boxing, MMA probably wouldn't even exist. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 10, 2013 Super User Posted July 10, 2013 Am I the only one that doesn't get this MMA stuff? Classic boxing for me. Boxing is so watered down and political anymore..... Personally, I think the UFC has over-saturated the market but I still watched Silva get KTFO! Quote
Quitlimpin Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Chances are he's gonna fade and fade fast. We've seen it over and over. Liddell, Hughes, CroCop, Fedor, Franklin, etc. Seems when these guys hit the wall, it doesn't take long. I've never been a fan of Silva, but the dude was/is an animal. IMO, his best days are def behind him. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted July 10, 2013 Super User Posted July 10, 2013 Silva wasn't bored he was TKO,ed Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted July 10, 2013 Author Super User Posted July 10, 2013 I think Silva has lost his motivation. I honestly think he wanted to get KO'd and he wanted a temporary out. What leaves me scratching my head is that he just signed a 10 fight contract so what his end game is who knows?? Quote
Fish Chris Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Thank God ! I was SO tired of that Show Boating POS ! Silva was a very talented fighter, but IMPO, he made a mockery out of MMA. He said after the fight that he would not pursue another title fight. He said he would fulfill his contract of 10 more fights, but would not specifically try to be #1 again > which just does not even sound like the words of a true fighter to me, but whatever. I hope he was telling the truth. Fish Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Am I the only one that doesn't get this MMA stuff? Classic boxing for me. Oh come on man!!! I understand the whole boxing thing, especially the history it has for you n your dad but wanna test a man? Round out the ring. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted July 12, 2013 Super User Posted July 12, 2013 He definitely had it coming with the antics of acting wobbled from a jab. The hands down matrix defense has always been enjoyable to watch when he follows it up with a beat down like he did agains Forrest and Bonner, but he overdid it this time without any significant offense mixed in. He's far from fading at this point (as opposed to Liddell and company at the end of their careers)... Silva just doesn't get caught square with punches when he's actually trying to not get hit. Quote
