bassman1958 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I just saw the new Picasso Bait Ball Extreme that has 7 wires and 16 baits. This seems like a little much to me. I know I would never use something like that. 2 Quote
Crappiebasser Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 At what point do we put down the rods and break out gill nets? 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 That is crazy but someone will buy it and all it will take is one pro to use it and do well in a big tourney and they will fly off the shelves. Quote
kylek Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Casey Martin just used one to win the FLW on Lake Chickamauga. It says he used a 5 arm model with 3 hooked baits and 10 teaser baits!!!! Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 I'd hate to catch 7 20# stripers at the same time on it, but I have caught 1 140# fish on spinning tackle. 2 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 I hunt bears, I don't do anything it's my wits against there smarts. I use one lure at a time. If I fool the fish I win. Even getting there attention I'm ok. If it's a hookup I win. Yes I was bitten by the four blade spinnerbaits at first but they sit in my tackle box now. When winning money is on the line it changes the whole game. I fish for the fun, but a new state record fish could mean $1,000,000 is on the line I try not to think about the money. Quote
Super User Teal Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 Ridiculous maybe. Im content with the 3,4,and 5 bait rigs. IMO, its too situational of a type of rig for me to have alot of different complex set ups. I have 4 different rigs between 3 and 5 lures. I can def see where that rig would shine. I would def like to borrow one for some fall Striper fishing!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 8, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 8, 2013 It has 7 baits with 9 teasers. It's nothing but another tool like any other bait. If you've got the back and shoulders to throw one all day I see nothing wrong with it. The A-rig doesn't make every fish around bite, it's not that they can't stand to watch it swim by. When they work they're magic sure, but it's far from "pulling a net behind the boat" like I've heard it described. I have yet to catch more than one fish at a time with one either. A few times I've used it they were biting on regular baits way better than they were on the A-rig. Not sure how many states a 7 arm rig would even be legal? I know in KS the limit is 2 hooks and MO it's 3 so I have no reason to buy one. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 8, 2013 Super User Posted July 8, 2013 As a recreational fisherman it has no place in my arsenal. If I were to use one ( I've used many umbrella rigs for ocean stripers) it would be a tool for trolling, I'm going to save back. I've caught 2 bass on drop fly rigs or double flukes and it isn't all that much fun, these fish swim together and come in like seaweed, 1 bass on the line IMO is a lot more fun. Catching 2 peacocks would be a real trip, they swim in different directions. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Wait until you see what's coming from Icast............a crankbait with no hooks called the Electroshok N5. You only have to make one cast and then net the largest five as the come floating up around your cast area. The only problem is you better have a culling beam or culling system. There's only one color offered, copper with a black end. 4 Quote
jtharris3 Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 It's getting ridiculous! I don't see where that's any fun to fish with at all. Same with the other A-rigs. I won't be wasting money on any of that crap. 1 Quote
CPBassFishing Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 If you don't like it then don't throw it. 1 Quote
