The Young Gun Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Instead of using the double take hooks, can I improvise with one single 5/0 EWG hook? Would it be dumb to throw these to docks?? Quote

martintheduck Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I NEVER use the double hooks on the ribbits. I use a 4/0 Twist lock EWG hook. Owner makes a REALLY good one (the angle of the barb is PERFECT and sits right on the frog). The twist lock is essential to keeping the bait useable. I land multiple fish on one frog. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted July 6, 2013 Super User Posted July 6, 2013 I use these almost every outing.. make sure you use a twist lock it will help make the bait last longer imo Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 6, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 6, 2013 I use a 4/0 EWG without a problem. The twistlocks will make them last longer though. Fish them along and under any dock you can get at. Quote
Super User webertime Posted July 6, 2013 Super User Posted July 6, 2013 If they are around the floating ribbits are money with a 4/0. Quote
Fireguyfrank58 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I bought to packs yesterday of the Ribbits and looked at the 4/0 and 5/0 Owner EWG plus hooks. To me the 5/0 seemed just a hair to long and could almost go all the way between the legs without having to run through the lure. The 4/0 got into the lure with plenty of meat and seems perfect IMHO. Super User Marty Posted July 6, 2013 Super User Posted July 6, 2013 I've always used 4/0 ewg on Ribbits and they area large enough. I personally have no confidence in double hooks and wouldn't consider them for this lure. Like others, I use keeper hooks to make each bait last longer. Quote
Chris007 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Hey Guys, Reading through this post....what colors do you like the best when throwing a Ribbit? Thanks Quote

buzzfrog Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Not to HJ.. But since we're on topic, if throwing around docks and sparce cover, would 14 mono be alright Quote
CPBassFishing Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Not to HJ.. But since we're on topic, if throwing around docks and sparce cover, would 14 mono be alright yeah you'll be alright just use a regular EWG not a superline and set the hook really hard. Quote
