Hey guys I'm new to the boards and want to contribute some advice and receive some as well.  There are no topics up right now that jump out at me so I thought I'd make one and share with you all what I've found to be the absolute best easily affordable polarized sunglasses for fishing, I bought about five more pair after a year of using them for Bass and Trout fishing, I first found them at a fishing show in Richmond, VA.  These things are like X-ray vision, I've never found a pair that cuts through the glare and even stained water sooo well.  A perfect setting to set to demonstrate how awesome these things are is to find a fast moving stream or river where the sun is shining and you can't see the bottom due to glare and coloration, put the glasses on and you'll see every pebble.  Do yourself a favor and spend the 18 bucks, you might even want to buy two if you do alot of wading and jumping from rocks and such as they aren't the most durable made things ever but man it's all about the lens'.  Here they are.  Woo Daves special.

I have a pair of the $22 Woo Davies glasses that are great too.  More designer in look than those on your link, so I wear them when I'm not fishing too.

have you compared the polarized lenses to more expensive glasses?  ive been searching for a pair ever since mine took a swim in the lake last year.

I've definately compared them to many other pair, some being worn by other fishermen I've run into, you just can't beat them in my opinion, especially consider how inexpensive they are which is why they aren't very durable but they work very well better than any other pair I've seen.  Just wanted to throw out my advice for the wallet concious man 8-)

Guys please don't think I'm an idiot I'm a newbie. When I was little I noticed my dad always ahd a good pair of polarized glasses while fishing. I never did ask him why he chose them. Why is it? Help see your line better? How are they helpful? Thanks.

Polarized lens' cut out the glare cause by the sun, this helps you to see into the water to observe, fish, beds, structure, depth of water, sometimes depth of fish and their cruising paterns, etc. very helpful during -but not limited to- pre-spawn, spawn and post-spawn seasons. If you wear a pair once fishing you won't go without again...

I have always like the Costa Delmar's. Cant beat there warranty service either.

"Revo H20" (nothing to do with the reels). They don't make any better than Italian titanium framed polorized glasses anywhere.

Expensive on the wallet, but cheap to protect your most valuable asset = your vision. I have never understood people that will spend thou$and$ on boats & tackle then want to get cheap on their eye protection :(

The cheapest yet not ugly ones are the ones I get. For some reason it seems a break sunglasses like it's cool. They seem to be the only thing that constantly break or gets lost. Yeah, BPS specials are the way to go for me.

I'm hoping to do more fishing this year so I will need a new pair of glasses. My old ones still work but aren't too much of a fashion statement. I have a pair of Roland Martins from the 70's. Needless to say I need a new pair but can't justify $100.00 for glasses.

I've never tried the cheap ones, spend too much time on the water and care more about my eyes than that.  I'm on my third pair of Maui Jims, just bought a pair of their newer, lightweight, no frame style, and wouldn't have anything else.  They have also come down a bunch in price so they are not all that expensive now, I would stronly recommend you try a pair.

i love me natives i dont know how i ever fished without em

I'm a big fan of the natives, I bought a pair last winter for skiing, and it turns out they work pretty darned good for fishing too.  I will say, though, that when folded up, the ear guard leaves a smudge on the inside of the lens.  My next pair will be natives, but I am sure I'll check to see how they fold.

I like the Solar Bats, I own three pair each with a different color of lense for different types of fishing.  I take all three with me when I go out on the water.

They vary in price from 14.00 to 200.00 and different styles.

I'm a four eyes so I just bought a pair of Cocoon polarized fishing glasses.  Has anyone used this brand?  I paid $40.00.  Have not been to the water yet.  Ice only melted a couple of weeks ago.

Never tried a really nice (exp.) pair, so I don't have something to compare. I know I had just about given up on less expensive ones. The distortion in them made me crazy(well crazier may be the right word) and gave me God-awful headaches. Solar Bats makes 2 pair (1 grey and 1 brown) sold at Wal-Mart with FLW logo that are only $14. Have not had any of the problems as above with them. IMHO hard to beat for the money (pretty decent frames too)...

I stand by the Costa Del Mar's. I have the Wavekillers (cause I have a big head) and they outperform any other pair of glasses I have tried or owned. Often times I will have someone on the boat and we are sight fishing..im saying "really, you cant see that bed there...and your glasses are polarized?"

oakley.....all others are just second place. oakley has done several tests with fixed eyes and nothing else compares. there is no distortion from left to right or up and down and you can keep these glasses on for days without getting a headache (distotion is what you dont want). so if you want the best glass and dont want to look through adhesive layers of tint and filters then oakley is the choice  for champs. one layer means HD optics.  VanDam dont wear them for nothing.

I sight fish most of the year and my favorite glasses by far are Solar Bats with Mossback Green lenses. The difference is very noticable. You can pic them up on line by clicking on the Solar Bat banner on this site. There costomer service is outstanding and the prices are lower than in the stores and on BPS.

I think once you get up to the quality brands they are all pretty good.  Then it just becomes which brand fits you the best.

For me .... I have had Costa Del Mars, Oakleys, H20 Optics, Bolle, Solar Bats, and I know I am leaving one out.  My favorites have been the Costa Del Mars.  Mainly because they are the most comfortable for me to wear all day long.
