Braid Or Fluorocarbon For T-Rigs?

I have a max of $40 to spend on line.

 

1.) I am not using a cheap rod.

 

2.) I am fishing for bass in freshwater. (Yes I do not care about which one is better for snook, tuna or marlin for god sake) 

 

Why? I wanted to see where the board is at on this topic. Please vote and feel free to comment on the biggest reason why.

I picked braid cause I like the line management and its strenght /dia cause I dont use the real heavy braids 20# is the highest I go. A lot of my fishing is dragging the bottom constant contact and it gives me the best sensitivity. I have some Trilene 100% Im trying but not ready to judge it yet.

 

Oh I left out that I use mostly ML & MED power rods I catch many fish at a distance of 100' or so and the lack of stretch I feel is a big plus on hooksets.

braid in the grass fluro for wood.if I could only choose one it would be braid.straight braid in the grass and I would tie a 4 foot leader to the braid for everything else.

Braid because, IMO, it has superior sensitivity for bottom contact baits. That's not to say fluoro isn't sensitive enough, but I like braid for applications when I am not worred about slack line sensitivity.

For $40 you can buy a spool of anything you want practically. Seagar tatsu in 12-15# would be a great choice. TW has the line on sale plus 15% off. You can get a spool for $34 roughly. Simply the strongest, most sensitive, best handling, general purpose floro I have used. Add backing and you can easily do 2-3 reels off that one spool. If I was wanting a line that was still decent but about 1/2 the price I would pick up sunline sniper.

I fish all my Texas rigs, jigs and weightless baits on floro. Never had any issues with breakage or sensitivity. I only opt for braid for frogs, punching and swimbaits.

On a side note: Fish your Texas rig with a tungsten weight if you don't already and you will gain some additional feel.

Oh, and the board is big into braid for nearly every technique (with or without a leader) so if it is a popularity contest you already know who will come out on top...

Fluorocarbon for me. Also not had any problems fishing it around thick grass and some lily pads plus no problems around timber.

Sensitivity to me is just fine.

I like flouro because it makes me feel good.   Obviously either is fine though.

Vote is nearly tied maybe the board isnt so braid biased after all..

Amongst the voters I will admit that I am surprised it is this close. However only 30 votes have been cast on board that has hundreds of active members. If more members voted I think it would look more like 65% braid 35% floro. Interesting nonetheless.

For me, flouro " feels " better. This may sound odd but braid can provide a false positive if that makes any sense. I hate leaders. I don't break off fish. Punchin is a different animal though.

i like fluoro for almost everything except topwater. Manageability is not an issue anymore with quality fluorocarbon lines. Sunline Sniper, and Seaguar Tatsu are both amazing when put on the spool correctly and treated with a line conditioner.

I voted for braid for its strength as most of the waters I fish are stained to murky even muddy at times so I'm not worried about the fish seeing the line. I do have flouro on one or two rods and on the backup spools for my spinning setups.
