I am thinking about moving over to braid w/ a fluorocarbon leader, but I have been reading that this setup this is only good for stained water and not for really clear lakes?  I mainly fish in the White River Lakes (Table Rock, Bull Shoals, Beaver Lake) and they are really clear. Should I make the move to braid w/ fluoro or just stay with pure fluoro and 4get the braid all together?  Thanks

Depending on the aggression of the bass it could differ from day to day. You probably just need to try it out and see. Some of my biggest bass have been in clearer waters with straight braid, but at times you may need all the stealth you can get.

I started jig fishing with braid and after I tried fluoro I prefer the fluoro. The slack line sensitivity is what makes it so good and I think it is easier to distinguish between what is rock/wood/weeds with fluoro. Make sure to use at least a MH or H rod that is at least 7'. I still use braid in thick weed cover.

If you're using a leader it doesn't really matter what's on the spool it, does it? Braid with a leader or straight all day every day for this guy.

I use braid on one of TVA clearest lakes.  Does it cost me stikes and fish.  I really can not tell you for sure but I do catch fish.

On everything except medium and large hard body swim baits I use 40# Suffix 832.  I take a permanent magic marker and mark about 2 feet of the end of the line.

Just go down a step in rod strength so you do not tear the hooks from the fishes mouth.

If theres not alot of vegetation, i would just stick with Fluoro. My local waters are generally slightly stained to clear with ALOT OF VEGETATION...most clear in the late summer/early fall. Most of my rods (except cranking rods) have braid, i typically use leaders later in the year.

But if i fished gin clear waters like you discribed, id probably stick to 14-20lb fluoro for my jigs.

I fish ultra clear strip mine pits where i can easily spot structure a good 20 feet on the bottom and i use 10# power pro moss green braided line with a 6# floro leader and have no problem catching fish, and i work jigs slow.I didn't notice if you were using spinning or a bait caster.I tried using all floro (6# 100% trilene floro) once on my spinning reel and i hated it. It came of like a slinky when i casted with it.
