BassOnKlinger Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Went fishing last weekend in southern Michigan on Klinger Lake. I don't have any gps/fish finder equipment. But I do know where a few drop-offs are that generally produce some bass. I fished a deep crank, a shallow crank, and a T-rig right along that line and around some weeds. Caught 4 one-pound Lg Mouth, a pike, and a 9" blue gill. I'm heading back up there later today and I'm wondering if any of you have any suggestions for fishing those same ledges. The lake is pretty developed, so there isn't much as far as cover. Docks, drop-offs, and submerged weed beds are pretty much all there is. Is there a certain lure I should try out? Thanks. Quote
BamaBoy5 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 If any of the drop offs have submerged grass i would also try a carolina rig and a drop shot. Quote
PoorBoyBassin Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Drop shot or Try throwing a 4inch zoom finesse worm, on a 1/8 slider head on say 10pound test... either one of those should produce in the pockets of grass or on the drop... working it slow would be key though. Take your time with them, an just when you feel like your at a slow enough speed, slow down some more. its a pain as most of want to move the bait around an in , to get it back out... slowing it downs really keeps it in that strike zone that much longer, almost getting them to hit everytime jus on a reaction strike. brgbassmaster Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I am from michigan and every lake i fish jigs always produce big bass. Especially on drop-offs, points, and any shallow water fishing. Quote
BassOnKlinger Posted July 8, 2013 Author Posted July 8, 2013 Thanks for the replies. I mainly worked a slow T-rig, plastic worm this weekend and came up with my best catch to date on the lake. Still nothing to brag about, but catching anything over a pound is exciting to me at this point. I'm heading back up this weekend and will give the jigs, drop-shot, and C-rig a try. I am from michigan and every lake i fish jigs always produce big bass. Especially on drop-offs, points, and any shallow water fishing. What colors and trailers (if any) do you use and how to you fish them? (I'm still learning all the techniques, bare with me.) Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 That's exactly what I have been doing. I don't have electronics either but tend to make educated guesses where I might find some drop offs, and when I start to find submerged weeds I fish the area thoroughly with a texas rigged rage craw, or any soft plastic you like... Doing this I caught these... 1 Quote
