My father and I are going to start really trying to learn how to fish Jigs... more pitching boat docks... grass etc with them. I haven't read to much or thought about 'swim jigs' really. Just fishing them like I would a texas rigged worm... anyway. Also we are going to start fishing spinnerbaits some as well. I've asked before about Spinnerbaits to buy and got some feedback that Megastrike is really good.

Anyway.. I am so torn on which one of the companies to put my money into. They both have some really compelling lures in their respective lure area.

Northstar.. the Blackout in the water in their video looks insanely awesome... but Megastrikes technology looks awesome as well. Both companies Spinnerbaits looks really good.

I need some guidance here. Also, what colors do you guys like? In my area I have always heard guys talking about pitching black & blue jigs... but on both sites.. all these colors look awesome lol....

You might have better luck in the fishing tackle section. I think northstar makes better spinnerbaits and jigs. The head design goes through weeds extremely well on spinnerbaits and their flip n swim is my favorite jig of theirs.

Shoot.... thought that is where I put this thread. No wonder I couldn't find this thread earlier haha. If a MOD would change it to that forum I'd appreciate it.

I mean.. that Blackout Jig just looks crazy in the water on their video.

Both companies have a great product and therefor a great following. Personally I'd say try some of each. NorthStar is having their 20% off sale right now with promo code "July 4" so it's a good time to try some baits for a great price.

I did the video on their site for the black series jig and can tell you first hand that they produce big time, my favorite big fish jig. For the black series jig I like Alimony (which is essentially a black/blue with some yellow mixed in), Frogger, Wrotten Banana, and PB and J.

Like Skeletor6 said, if you want a great jig for pitching/flippin/swimming all in one make sure to grab some Flip and Swims. They are the most versatile jig in the whole line up and come through the weeds great. If you have any bream/sunfish in your area the New Gill is lights out!

Whatever company you choose its hard to go wrong with natural colors like browns/greens or black/blue with jigs. Try to match the forage of what the fish are eating in your lake and you will do well.

If you want a bit more info on the Northstar black series here is an updated vid I did on this particular series.

I really like the Megastrike spinnerbaits, and the hook up ratio.  But I also like the Northstars as well as the Siebert Outdoors.    Not trying to pimp our sponsors, but we have some quality tackle guys here!  My suggestion is to order a "sampling" from each and then make your decision yourself.  Personally I have all of them in my arsenal!

Northstar would be my first choice without a doubt of those two companies.

I have no dealings with Megastrike other than their scent, but North Star is my go to for jigs. Like mnbassman23 said, NSCB is having their 20% off sale till the 7th. Be a good time to jump on some and try it out.

That's hard to beat.

I'm not a big jig fisherman so I won't weigh in on that but, as far as spinnerbaits, my go to bait is the Terminator spinnerbait. I've got more spinnerbaits than you can imagine and the Terminator out fishes them all. They're more expensive but they last longer too so in my mind they're worth the price. I'm also a big fan of the Strike King spinnerbaits.

I have products from all 3 of them and like them all. You cant go wrong with any of the 3 manufacturers.

NorthStar

MegaStrike

and

Seibert

Pretty sure the guys from NorthStar and Seibert will chime in also. Probably fishing or busy making jigs and spinner baits.

Haven't tried megastrike jigs, but I really like both Northstar and Siebert jigs. Both are quality products with grat customer service. But, if I had to pick just one, it would be a Northstar Black series jig, in 3/8 oz. Pick your favorite color, slap on a matching trailer and figure out the cadence the bass want. Jigs are tough as nails and the hook up ratio is outstanding.

X2. If Siebert was included in the mix I would put him up there with the best of the best. By far the best and most prompt customer service of the 3 and it isn't even close. His prices are beyond fair from the start and the quality is outstanding. Even if he wasn't a sponsor here I would still help promote his business. Simply put the kind of person anyone would want to do business with regardless of level of expectation.

I'm a Northstar guy through and through. Their jigs and spinnerbaits have put an awful lot of checks in my bank account the past three years. I have been extremely happy with the spinnerbaits for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is that they come through cover extremely well, the heads are balanced well, the bearing swivels and the blades spin under very little movement, and the baits run true at very high speeds. The wire tied skirts are an added bonus, too. The set back hook on the Northstar also helps with hook up rates. It's one of the best, if not the best, I've ever used for keeping fish pinned.

Northstar jigs are ridiculously well built, too. I've had a lot of fun with the black series this year, and the Knockouts are just that. I've had a jig fishing year this year, no doubt about it. They're still on jigs pretty heavy on quite a few of the lakes I fish, and I've been knocking them with a Black Series in Frogger and Alimony. My son and I fished a lake Wednesday and we had 29.86 for five fish. All came to a Frogger/Lobster combo.

I wasn't happy with the MegaStrike bait for a few reasons, mostly due to preferences. It didn't fit what I was looking for in a spinnerbait, really. They're built ok, and the components are good, but it didn't fit my needs.
