soopd Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I want to switch to tungsten for my Texas rigs. I have heard people talk about some brands fray your line. What do I need to look for? Which brands have been your favorite? Quote
Fireguyfrank58 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I too just switched to tungsten about 2 months ago of my Texas rigs. I have been using the H20 brand and they have inserts. I have had zero problem with my PP braid. 1 Quote
hookset on 3 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Like many things in life, you get what you pay for. On the high side there is Reins or Kanji. On the inexpensive side you have Bullet Weights brand or Eco Pro. If I can just say, we spend lots for rods and reels, so why skimp on weights. I'd feel bad if somebody lost a trophy, over a cheap tungsten that frayed their line to the point of a break-off. Quote
Kevin22 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 There are tons of videos on how to put inserts in tungsten weights. No sense in buying expensive weights when you can buy the cheap ones and do it yourself for cheap. A weight is a weight. Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 5, 2013 Super User Posted July 5, 2013 Try to find ones with inserts. Then take your time and purchase the ones without inserts and purchase the insets for them. You can note the size inserts from one of the ones with inserts. Never have had a problem with any tungsten weights, other than losing some which had me upset. It did make the Bait Monkey happy.
