To be honest, save yourself some money and go for nothing less than gore-tex.

Do the other brands work? Yes - but for a couple years and you will find yourself one day soaked to the bone. Some will repel water for a few hours and then you will find yourself soaked as well too!

In September or so, Cabelas will blow out their goretex gear for about $120 per piece and get yourself a jacket and bibs. They'll last you 10 years easy.

LL Bean's are nice and on sale now. I hear frogz togs toads are great as well.

That said save up for the best you can afford. It's a great investment.

BPS and Cabellas both have top of the line raingear from lightweight summer to the Gortex 100mph stuff.  I'd avoid FrogTogs because you'll end up wet by the end of the day.

I have a set of lightweight Frogg Toggs and I like them for late spring/summer/early fall fishing.  I like the bibs & jacket rather than the pants.  The only place I ever get wet is around the neck (when I turn and face into the rain) and sometimes around my wrists (when I raise my hand up for an overhead cast).  I think that they also make a good spring/fall anti-wind suit that isn't too constricting.  I am pretty certain that when I wear these Frogg Toggs out, I will upgrade to a set of very lightweight gore-tex, but I haven't worn them out yet in 5+ years.

For earlier & later in the seasons, I've got a set of Cabelas Guide Wear.  I think that is the gold standard in rain gear, but it is a little hot to wear late spring/summer/early fall, even the uninsulated set.

Guidewear isn't cheap now and it wasn't cheap when I got my set, around 1999 or 2000, but being comfortable in uncomfortable weather is priceless, especially during a tournament.

Bottom line, when you decide to get serious about rain gear, you will need two sets.  One set for early/late seasonal conditions and another for more temperate conditions. JMO

To be honest it felt real good like it has some quality. It was 69.99$ so I figure it worth a shot. I'm not into fishing in the rain so I didn't wanna spend 200$ just yet. If I like it then ill move up in my rain gear quality.

everytime I save up the cash for a new BPS 100mph set I end up with a new combo lol

I sure do love my new Lews TP and Croix LTB lol...but I gotta get a rain suit. I got soaked bad in a tourney last year in September

I purchased the surplus military Swiss camo ponchos for my son's. I think they were $5each.

Ponchos work great for fishing in the rain - until it gets windy - then it becomes problematic.  Back in my bush hippie days (late 70's - early 80's) I thought that a poncho was an acceptable solution to fishing in the rain.  And they are - as long as it isn't windy.   I outgrew the poncho solution pretty quick.   Fishing while wearing a poncho in the rain & wind causes more problems than it solves.

I own the frog tog lightweight set and the Bass Pro Shops version of it.  Both seem pretty much the same as far as quality, but the BPS branded one has a better set of pants that have an adjustable waist.
