CAdeltaLipRipper Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Well i got the most amazing deal the other day . Was with my mom and my friend one night before a fishing trip getting some groceries at save mart. Went to go check out their totaly amazing stock of quality fishing gear hahahaha when my friend spotted big 8 inch heavy trout swimbaits on sale for 10 bucks when their normal price is 30 to 40 bucks EACH!so of course i bought one for my dad and one for me . Theyre bass harrassers. Well with all the hogs in Cali out here and all the success with giants we hear from them were gonna throw them around winter time. I mean we use smaller swimbaits but have never thrown this monsters i mean they must way a pound to a pound and half each. We have big 5:1 abus that are sitting around we are planning to use for them. Any tips how to fish them?and any gear tips?im planning to try throwing them with 20 pound flouro but if u object to that got any other suggestions?thanks Quote
Randall Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Around here those are going for three to five dollars each. Tackle Warehouse has them for around seven. You way overpaid. ;D Don't feel bad though. There are some of us including myself who paid way more a few years ago to try one to figure out they are not worth the money. There was even some sponsored guys on here telling everybody how great they were for the money. ;D Much better choices out there for trout swimbaits. If you want a good swimbait get a Mattlures or a Huddleston. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted July 8, 2010 Super User Posted July 8, 2010 you will very lucky if the one you got swims straight !!! they are cheap imitations of Hudds . and they only weigh 4-5 oz. not a pound : soon you will learn what is good and what is bad in picking baits . the bass harasser is not a good one . put it this way , you will never see a Hudd on clearance !!!!! GonzoFishing Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Don't feel too bad, I did the same thing with another swimbait. ;D Here's an idea I read about. Cut a slit where the gills are and glue a small piece of red pipe cleaner to it. Makes it look like gills! Then, apply some type of scent to the swimbait, toss it out and let it drop to the bottom. Every once in a while give it a twitch. Those Cali bass, especially the ones used to feeding on trout will suck it up right off the bottom! At least that's what Ive heard. ;D Good luck! Quote

The only problem with that plan is the Bass Harasser will not sit upright on the bottom, it will fall over on its side. That's only if the harness doesnt tear out on the cast. ;D Quote
Senkoman12 Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 i have never heard of them but hopefully it works for you but for $15 BPS has a 7" jointed swimbait which you can get in trout colors but i highly reccomend them because i have one in bluegill, i havnt fished it much but the racction is great and so is the price Quote

mrbassky Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I have some bass harrasers but I will never use them. I got them for $3 each to use as loaners when people swimbait fish with me. One way to make the action better is boil the tail and soften it. Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Stay away from all the cheap stuff at Save mart (except for the Luck E Strike stuff, that actually is decent). I lost fish on those stupid $1 spinnerbaits they sell that aren't packaged... That was my own dumb fault though for expecting a $1 lure to be decent Quote
