I was very skeptical about the chatterbait. I saw them on tv in one of those infomercelcals. But non the less the bait monkey got to me so I bought 2 small ones in Chartreuse and white. I didnt use them they sat at the bottom of my takle bag. Then one day I tied one on and went out to my dock. It was really windy and second cast I got about a 2 lb largemouth. Im curious has anyone else had good luck with these in low visibilty condition?

My classic story about Ch-baits is the time I was fishing in a runoff pool after a big rain - the water had gotten up into the grass along the edges and was the color (and almost the consistency) of chocolate milk.  I threw a Ch-bait to parallel the grass line and saw the wake of the bass as it tracked on the vibrations of the Ch-bait - after hauling him in, I noticed that he was blind in both eyes and had managed to locate the lure by the vibration alone - a buddy of mine commented, "you just caught a blind fish in muddy water with that thing!"

Try 'em - you'll like 'em

I absolutely love throwing them.  It's a very versatile lure, which I love.  Throws off lots of flash from the blade, makes lots of noise, etc etc.  Works great for me in and around some of the weedbeds on my lake.

We throw the smaller ones around here quite a bit, to a good amount of catches, especially on the white ones. The advertising is sorta sketchy, but they work.

Chatterbaits work.  The dirtier the water, the better, atleast in my experiance.  There are lots of good ones, and quality ones do out perform lesser quality ones and will last longer.  The original chatterbait, karu's vibrashock, and zmans all seem to do well.  I prefer karu's, they take a beating and keep catching fish.

chartreuse, this bait is awesome for largemouth and smallies, I use them in any condition, but my biggest catch was a 6lb smallie in a rainstorm.

Two suggestions for improving Ch-bait results:

1) fish 'em slow -just enough to get the blade vibrating - if they get caught up in the grass - give 'em a snap and they will usually come out and be clean as a whistle

2) don't (repeat don't) throw 'em around wood - they are wood magnets and will definitely get hung up.

I'd seen them but refused to pay the asking price.  Then one day I saw some of the originals in a tackle shop on special for $2.98 so I bought a couple.  Went out on Ky Lake after the flood waters receded somewhat and fishing one of my favorite spots I couldn't buy a strike.  Water was still almost muddy.  Grabbed a chartreuse Chatterbait and had 14 bass on about 30 casts, and every one hooked smack in the roof of the mouth.  I fish them now anytime the water is "noisy", i.e. heavy chop.
