Bayoubassin8 Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 On what lure have you hard your hardest hit/strike on? Mine would be a 4 pounder hitting a shad colored strike king swim jig. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 Topwaters. Spook type baits, frogs, jitter bugs 1 Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 Probably topwaters for me too. My spinnerbaits also get hit pretty hard a lot of the time. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 3, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 JIg. This particular fish was by far the hardest strike I've ever had. 3 Quote
38 Super Fan Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 I had about a 6lbs Largemouth absolutely blow up a buzzbait last year, by far the hardest, loudest strike I've ever heard, I'll never forget the sound as long as I live. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 T-rigs and jigs. Around here the smaller ones tend to try and kill it when they hit the bait. The big ones are more easy going. Quote
bkohlman Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 My cavitron buzzbait last night, tiny bass smacked it hard. Quote
5dollarsplash Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Bouncing a jig on a rock river bottom.....BOOM goes the smallie. The fight was great too, 15" of fury. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 Frogs, Swim jig, Hollow belly swimbaits Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 The hardest hit I ever had was from a 5lb 1oz river smallmouth that absolutely crushed a 1/2oz spinnerbait I was burning about 3" or so below the surface that just caused a small wake. I probably had the bait a quarter of the way in when all I saw was a huge swirl and my spinnerbait disappeared and then the rod was very close to being ripped from my hands, literally, I actually felt the rod slip and then my grip tightened and I reared back and set the hook, it seemed like it all happened in slow motion. Super User bigbill Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 There are a few of us retired guys who fish the same places. In one spot we all lost lures to something that just hits so violent it snaps the line before I can set the hook. I always lose the rapala #7 in blue. I'm not sure how many lures I lost but it's many between us. I'm sure this fish has a box full of them. The strike seems to be full steam ahead from the side when it hits, it's different. I been wondering if it's an otter? Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted July 4, 2013 Super User Posted July 4, 2013 JIg. This particular fish was by far the hardest strike I've ever had. Lake Wabaunsee? Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Swim Jig for sure. Bass seem to crush it with a vengeance!! Quote
annexation Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Yeah, gonna have to go spinnerbait here. I've had some hard hits from the smallies on chatterbaits this year but the hardest strike I've ever had was from a pike smashing into a Terminator spinner bait in white. Like a shot to the arm. Quote
loodkop Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I have never had strikes to compare to river tigerfish hitting a spoon. Its like hooking into a guided missile with short range fuel tanks. On the bass side I have had some big hits from smallies on spinnerbaits that still brings a smile to my face when I remember. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted July 4, 2013 Super User Posted July 4, 2013 When I get a particularly hard strike, it signals to me that there are other fish in the area and this one was trying to get to my bait first. I always throw back to the same spot after I land the first fish and usually get more bites. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted July 4, 2013 Super User Posted July 4, 2013 Topwaters. Spook type baits, frogs, jitter bugs x2...also my biggest hit to date was on a spinnerbait..it was a pike at least 36" until my Trilene "Vanish" leader did it's professional act and lost this fish about 10ft out. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 5, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 5, 2013 Lake Wabaunsee? Yep, those flatheads love jigs out there. Quote
