Now as you read the topic...you wonder to yourself when I buy the most lures. Is the summer time, spring time, winter or fall?

Well thats the question not all of us are Bill Gates when it comes to fishing( basically can buy the whole store).  So when do

you guys be the most lures? Money being an issue. Trying to read the papers aka Academy or Bass Pro. Lets hear it guys.

Whenever they pop up here on the flea market.... That's usually the best deal I've found

over the winter during black friday sales, new years sales and the first fishing expos of the year are when i do most of my purchasing as baits are a lot cheaper and you can often times buy them in bulk for even less.

The very best time for a husband to buy tackle is the day before payday, shopping with your wife and the kids need shoes.

The worst time is payday, alone, and no one else has a wish list

Here is what I do, I put a little money away each week and I make a list of 3 things, the first thing is lures I need to replace or get more of, these are productive cranks or stocking up soft plastic that I use a lot. The second thing is terminal tackle, this is hard as it is the most boring of tackle purchases but you can't fish without it but do it in a way that you get what you need and still have money for other kinds of tackle. The 3rd thing is stuff I want to try, this one is tricky as I will often want to put this one up front but don't do it as the new stuff is still unproven so approach this section with caution. Once you have your list and you have been saving for some months, (winter is great for this) the first big sale is where I start and for me it is the black Friday sales, this will account for most of my lure purchases of the year, after that I begin to save again until Easter or memorial day depending on what I need and how much I have to spend. Buying tackle like this systematically will fill your box with plenty of tackle and when you get to that point you can fill in holes here and there should you lose one of your goto square bills or you are down to your last bag or rage craws.

I buy when there on sale or clearance mainly. I hit Wal-Mart for there spring clearance and markdowns.

One problem I have is when a new lure works great then I order more on every BPS or Lurenet order.

I give them to my kids and friends too.

I buy and accumulate crap year round. During the "season' which is usually April-November up hear, it's mostly stuff I am in danger of running low on. Every time I cashin a tournament, that money burns a hole in my pocket, and is usually spent on gear and more entry fees. During the winter it's new stuff I want to try..............most of which gets tried, and then sold off to buy more of my same old, same old stuff, but a few new things make the rotation every year.

I posted this in another thread as well. TW sells their gift cards twice a year at 15% off. You can then use those gift cards to purchase items when they have their sales. So let's say you paid $85 for a hundred dollar card. You use the card to buy $100 of stuff during one of their 15% off sales. You have just purchased $118 of merchandise for $85 plus the free shipping and free t-shirt. I do most of my shopping during Black Friday sales. I'll buy soft plastics by the butt load, and stock up on line and other lures I use alot. I buy my jigs 20 at a time as needed. I'll pick up incidentals all year long.

When?

1) When my bills are paid up

2) when said items are on sale or at a steal on the web

3) christmas time from TW when 1) and 2) are in play is the best time to restock and make upgrades IMO

Usually when I need something, or when I have a gift card.
