rboat Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I like this topwater bait. Which size do like to use and why? Full size, Baby size, or tiny size? Quote
Shane Procell Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I use the full size. It is one of my go to baits in the dusk hours of late summer. I like the green frog colors because it is natural to the everglades. Quote
The Guy Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Tiny in bullfrog, I have caught a ton of bass on that lure biggest was about 8lbs. It is probably my favorite topwater. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Any size will do, I've caught 'em up to 5lbs on the smallest. Baby Bass and Fire craw (Brown back with stripes, dark green to chartreuse, and orange.) This bait is an explosive producer. Good luck. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted July 2, 2010 Super User Posted July 2, 2010 We use the lepord frog with the prop its a hot one here. I purchased a $3 off the wall brand spook because of its orange color. That cheap lure caught bass one day that was awesome...... This tells me and i agree that sometimes color matters and sometimes the frenzy is so bad the'll hit a bare hook. So "size" "color" and "presitation" matters. But my motto is; "big bait big fish" Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 3, 2010 Super User Posted July 3, 2010 How do you guys fish this bait? Quote
The Guy Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I fish it with short pops(twitch and pause); Some people fish it with a steady retrieve like a buzzbait but I haven't had much luck doing that Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 4, 2010 Super User Posted July 4, 2010 I use the Tiny Torpedo a lot down here in my area. It's a fantastic lure for Peacocks. Doesn't hurt that Largemouth like it just as much. ;D Quote
paangler3117 Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I always liked the crazy shad better, if I want a bigger bait. the littlest one is a great lure on smaller rivers. I have used a bunch of different colors, and they all work! Jim Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted July 6, 2010 Super User Posted July 6, 2010 I have had my best luck on the tiny size, bass colored. Ive tried the others but this one seems to work the best for me. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 7, 2010 Super User Posted July 7, 2010 The crazy shad is my favorite double prop bait. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I fish mine with consecutive hard twitches, though I've had good success with twitching it gently in place after letting it set where it landed after the cast. Quote
birdy Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I've used the tiny torpedo but the pan fish hit it hard also. One question, when you twitch is it in a straight line or back and forth? Quote
Bass Junkie Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Straight line. Its a whole lot harder to make it walk....... At least for me. I just get it comin' and jumping.... I can try to get a video as it is a whole lot easier to do once you see it. Hope this helps! Quote
BrianSnat Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 How do you guys fish this bait? I will twitch and sit about 4-5 times, then steady retrieve the rest of the way. I've had bass hit both. It is one of my favorite calm morning/evening/night lures. I use mostly the Tiny Torpedo, but have a Baby or two in my box. Quote
oprcsr Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I'll twitch it/pause/twitch/pause/twitch/pause and so on. Quote
